EXCLUSIVE: U.S. contacted Iran's ayatollah before election
Washington Times ^ | 6/24/09 | Barbara Salvin

Prior to this month's disputed presidential election in Iran, the Obama administration sent a letter to the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling for an improvement in relations, according to interviews and the leader himself.

Ayatollah Khamenei confirmed the letter toward the end of a lengthy sermon last week, in which he accused the United States of fomenting protests in his country in the aftermath of the disputed June 12 presidential election.

U.S. officials declined to discuss the letter on Tuesday, a day in which President Obama gave his strongest condemnation yet of the Iranian crackdown against protesters.

I would love to ask TOTUS “If dinnerjacket remains in power and the revolution is crushed, will you allow pictures of you shaking his hand?”

One thing I noticed about Hussein, he never uses the word freedom in describing the events in Iran. I think it is something he detests.

I saw the clip afterward on the news. Wonder how long Major Garrett will be allowed in the press room.

He's got some stones.

He did maybe more for journalism, Iran and America in two sentences than that whole room of journalists will do for the rest of their lives.

GeronL, how do you increase the space after your comment so its last line isn’t so close to the tagline?

There’s a singer who frequented the college circuit, mainly in Western NY but he has appeared nationwide. His name is John Valby and back in the early 80s he did a song about Ayatollah Khomeini of which some applies today. It’s so offensive that I can’t even post a link or I would be banned. If I were an admin mod I would. Please Freepmail me for the link, only if you’re not offended by strong adult language and plenty of it.

Since you mentioned “meddling, I wonder what the Lord of the Flies thinks about Iran’s “meddling” in Iraq, in which they fed the insurgency with weapons, training, personnel, and money and caused the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of Americans?

Isn’t it just amazing: like a kid, while he was campaigning and George Bush was president, Obama had ALL the answers. Now he has the Office but not the first clue.

Yes.  And soon after that, Ahmadinejad will have a nice teaching job in one of our universities.

So will our US Embassies abroad still invite the diplomatic corps of thugs and henchmen of the present Iranian Regime to our 4th of July fireworks and barbeque parties that every Embassy of the United States of America, under the Obama administration, will have? They were invited about 2 months ago. The President had ample opportunity yesterday during the press conference to dis-invite these people.

“Muslim women have *** the right **** to cover themselves in the burqa or nigab in America.”

I can’t stand obama, but there is a difference between having ***the right*** to cover yourself in a shroud and being FORCED or THREATENED to cover yourself.

Question #1: Devout muslim women cover themselves because?
A. Fear
B. Tradition
C. Fear
D. Fashionable (I think NOT)

Question #2: Do muslim women really have a choice in the matter?

Question #3: Does living in America make a muslim less muslimic than living in the middle east?

Answer to 1, 2 and 3 (please correct me if I’m wrong): Muslim women HAVE NO CHOICE in the matter, have NO RIGHTS. Therefore Obama-lama’s statement is a moot point. You’re either a muslim or you’re not. No half & half. You want rights? Don’t be a muslim female.

Nuns’ habits ... Jewish ladies with wigs ...

We see a lot of peeps in prayer coverings here, as well.

However, none of these cover the face. Someone else said that if a woman’s face is covered, it takes away her identity, and hides injuries from abuse.

ONe of those head to toe deals with a netting-covered peep hole would be an abuser’s best friend.

Sounds like Major Garret could be to Obama what Dan Rather was to Richard Nixon.

....”We have provided a path whereby Iran can reach out to the international community, engage, and become a part of international norms.....

This statement overlooks the fact that Iran cares nothing about international norms or community. The point of being Iran is to eliminate international norms and bring about a totally new community.

They laugh at a naive black African upstart. He thinks there is a raceless world, but the world rejects the concept knowing Africans are the dregs of the worls population
