Prior to this month's disputed presidential election in Iran, the Obama administration sent a letter to the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, calling for an improvement in relations, according to interviews and the leader himself.
Ayatollah Khamenei confirmed the letter toward the end of a lengthy sermon last week, in which he accused the United States of fomenting protests in his country in the aftermath of the disputed June 12 presidential election.
U.S. officials declined to discuss the letter on Tuesday, a day in which President Obama gave his strongest condemnation yet of the Iranian crackdown against protesters.

I wonder how many other pre-election deals 0 made ... and how he benefited personally.

He did in other countries even BEFORE his f###ing election! Hello? Logan Act? The lights are on....and nobody is HOME! They’ve been ‘outsourced’!
Obama before the Iranian election....effectively: "go ahead and do anything you want in the election, we will talk to you afterward no matter what!"
I think Islam is a cult and I think Obama is a destructive socialist, that being said, why isn't what Sarkozy is thinking of instituting an infringement of liberty and freedom of religion? How about a nun in a full habit or a jewish woman who wears a wig?
And Obama didn't speak up for them.
He is the most shameful of all humanity. Disgusting.
He is not what America stands for, he is a despicable disgrace.
He actually thought the elections would be inconsequential, and by reaching out to Khamenei before the election, he would ingratiate himself rather than looking like he was reaching out only after the election. He gambled, foolishly. He lost.
This is what happens when arrogance meets naivete. It reminds me of Carter, in his post-presidency, observing the looming elections from the safety of his Managua hotel room, was convinced Ortega would win the 1990 Nicaraguan elections, while massive voter turnout in the countryside catapulted Chamorro to power.
We are seeing a "reboot" of the Carter administration. Instead of a folksy farmer, we have a suave city slicker. Instead of southern, we have Chicagoan. The naivete is the same, but the arrogance is far worse today.
Obama needs to go back to street hustling, eating frozen custard, and complaining about the price of arugula. He needs to leave foreign policy to the adults.
Obama is slowly working his way over to the proper position like a 4-year old in roller skates, holding onto the partition the entire way.
“I am a very good driver..... vanilla, definitely vanilla”
That idiot did not understand Providence and now it is learn as you go.
One wonders exactly WHAT was negotiated, especially something so important that BO clearly will not condemn the people he was negotiating with. I don’t like it. It stinks to high Heaven.
Omuzzie’s letter:
“Destroy all opposition. From now on, all who desire freedom and justice are enemies of Islam. Do what must be done!”

Major asks the questions without even a hint of snarkiness. Well done, Major!
I've avoided anything that may have her death images. She is in heaven I know it.
No. It is reportedly Neda Agha-Soltan.
I've avoided anything that may have her death images. She is in heaven I know it.
Which heaven?
What a dangerous embarrassment.
I just heard the audio of that exchange. Obama definitely sounded testy and defensive.
I do not think Barry will hold up when the press finally takes off the kid gloves. He is going to turn into a quivering mess of jelly. Geez louise, millions of Americans have quit smoking and he is unable to stop. There is nothing exceptional about him at all.
