Dick Morris: Obama's Ruse in Fox News Attack
E-Mail from Newsmax | 21JUN09 | Newsmax E-Mail

Posted on 06/21/2009 1:29:41 PM PDT by dsc

Political analyst Dick Morris says President Barack Obama's complaint about Fox News' coverage of his administration is meant to deflect talk that the media is in the tank for him.

Obama on Tuesday told CNBC's John Harwood: "I've got one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration . . . That's a pretty big megaphone. You'd be hard-pressed if you watched the entire day to find a positive story about me on that front."

Obama did not disagree when Harwood suggested that he was talking about Fox News.

During the Wednesday broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor," host Bill O'Reilly asked Morris if Obama was merely "whining."

"No, it's got nothing to do with whining," said Morris, whose latest book is "Catastrophe: How Obama, Congress, and the Special Interests Are Transforming . . . a Slump into a Crash, Freedom into Socialism, and a Disaster into a Catastrophe. . . and How to Fight Back."

"He is getting an avalanche of incredibly positive publicity. One network had a two-day series with him at the White House. Another network is invited to do a full day's broadcasting from the White House as long as they focus on healthcare reform. With that kind of sloppy sentiment coming from the media, he has to talk about criticism."

Morris went on to say: "He has to appear that the media is being fair and balanced to him and he has to say, oh, I'm being criticized, so he can counterbalance public perceptions that he is getting a sweetheart deal from the media."

O'Reilly asked, "You feel it's because he wants the American public to think that the media is not in the tank for him?"

Morris said, "Exactly."

O'Reilly: "Everybody knows the media's in the tank for him."

Morris: "That's why he had to say the opposite . . . He in fact is getting media adulation on a scale no president has ever gotten."

Obama complained about Fox News as long ago as October, Newsmax reported at the time. He said in an interview, "I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls . . . If I were watching Fox News, I wouldn't vote for me, right?"

Nothing. The MSM got the TOTUS-reading fuhrer elected and is heavily invested in his fascist regime appearing to “succeed.”

Thank GOD for Fox and Clear Channel.

What can be done about this?

Start making flattering remarks about Joe Biden's intelligence on Fox News.

Patience is what you can do. Obama has set himself up as an incredible disaster, but that won’t be completely clear until next spring (when unemployment is still high, foreclosures not ending, TARP being exposed as a slush fund, Iran and N Korea out of control, health care in a shambles, cap and trade exposed, . . .).

We all need to position ourselves to be saying ‘I told you so’ when the time is right.

Since O is so happy to ridicule his lapdogs I wonder how long they’ll be willing to take the abuse.

His comments about Brian Williams clogging the White House toilet were disgusting.

Tell the Fuhrer to have Joseph Goebbel’s body dug up and brought to DC and have it propped up in his office. Like minds and all that.

I think Morris is right about this. It’s being done for a reason, and that reason is to make it appear that that Obama is coming under attack in the media about as often as he’s getting praised.

Of course this is rubbish...

Other than the obvious that FOX is a "network", not a "station", the Big 0 fails to recognize that Nixon had all three major 'networks' against him in his time, as well as Reagan when there were the three plus the new CNN cable. Since then many 'networks' have popped up all over the place and yet it is only *one*, FOX, which Big 0 whines about?

I thought it was just me that thought this. I agree! I would be horrified if a professional or personal contact said this publicly. It was disgusting. Narcissist do this though. They think those that are nice to them and that they can manipulate are pond scum. It is the ones that don't put them on the pedestal that have the power. Thus Obama’s obsession with Fox etc.

You summarize it all in your post very well. When or will this eventual abuse sink in for his 'followers?'

Obama {said}: ... "I've got one television station that is entirely devoted to attacking my administration . . . That's a pretty big megaphone. You'd be hard-pressed if you watched the entire day to find a positive story about me on that front."

It is mind-bloggling how stupid Hussein thinks the American people are. he may be right, but that doesn't make it fact.

No normal adult can begin to swallow that glaring half-truth without immediately visualizing the other side of the coin:

In the contents of every broadcast channel and every other satellite channel, including the news channels you'd be hard-pressed to ever find a negative thing about Hussein.

How is that a good thing?

How does that differ in any substantive way whatsoever from the State electronic media of every totalitarian regime from Albania to Zimbabwe?

There's a big megaphone, and then there's the monumentaly huge and ubiquitous one!

Just saying.

Yup. Obama is hanging himself, politically. We should just sit back and watch.

No kidding. And I thought the line before that, about Williams being physically in bed with him, was bad enough

Zero needs to understand that all Americans are not so stupid and gullible as to want to sit there and be fed his administration's BS by his state run "media." FOX gives us "choice" and we all want "choice" don't we? Watching FOX can also be looked at as living an "alternative lifestyle." And we all know that's a good thing, right?

DemocRATS are dopes. FOX is for those of us who shun the status quo and prefer to "think outside of the box." FOX watchers want to have some "skin in the game."

Keep watching Fox and make sure to recommend it to friends, so that viewership goes up.

Turn out the MSM, but only after noting their advertisers and emailing them.

The way to hurt these obsequious vermin is to hit them economically.

Amen, I believe you have it down to a tee.

I also believe that the media will turn on him.

agree. The man is VERY shrewd. From the beginning, it was said ‘he’s a great orator’ and that was repeated over and over and people now believe it. I haven’t heard the evidence that he is a great orator. Even with his ever present teleprompters...his speech is often halting and he often says “er”.

Rep. Paul Ryan, who was on Chris Wallace’s show this morning, seems like a great orator.

The MSM is nothing but a political arm of the Democratic Socialist Party. The MSM used to deny this, but they no longer attempt to hide the fact. Any network that dares criticize Chairman BO does so at its own peril. The letter, B, in ABC, CBS, NBC, all stand for Barak. Chairman BO will not be happy until FOX becomes BOX. Just as the Iranians have to depend upon the Internet and radio to get the truth out, so do we. Stop watching the MSM. Make the government bail them out, too. Don’t believe anything that you hear, see, or read from the MSM. Assume that whatever you hear from Chairman BO is a lie.

“I also believe that the media will turn on him.”

Not like they turned on Nixon and Reagan. He’s a leftist, and, as Alexander Solzhenitsin said, “Evil people always support each other; that is their main strength.”

They won’t turn on him until someone worse comes along...further to the left, blacker, female...just like they didn’t turn on Her Thighness until 0bama came along.

“The man is VERY shrewd.”

Is he really? He strikes me as a dumb@ss.

I rather think that there is an éminence grise...or perhaps a whole cadre of them.
