I just got this note from another poster and twitter on the Americans supporting Iranian liberty & those fighting for it site on Facebook.
This is pertinent right now to the situation in Iran.
Twitter Folks-set your location to Tehran and your time zone to GMT +3.30. Iranian security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut Iranians' access to the internet down.
We have to help protect the Freedom Fighters.
Please pass the word. There are ways we can help. This is one of those ways.

It's like a search phrase and these are all the posts refering to it. You will see tweets there from a lot of different people.

We do not have an embassy in Tehran any longer. Since 1979.

So you just do a search on #iranelection and then save the search and you get all the twitter posts that include that “phrase”. It’s like a revolutionary code word that you use to connect any one person to anyone (or everyone) in the world in “less than 5 seconds”. Correct?
To: Oorang
No prob. I could make the same kind of mistake. In fact, I’ve seen me do it!

When you type into your "What are you ding box" you send a tweet that anyone following you will see. You can follow me by going to and pressing follow under my picture:

Then look at who I am following and pick others.
Also, in the "What am I doing" box, you can use codes to do speacial things, like "@usernam message" will send your message specifically to a specific user. Use the help function to see other commands.

You figured out how to post to discussions like #IranElection? How do you get an update/tweet to appear in that discussion? (or any other for that matter)

Click on #IranElection, check out the comments and when you see individuals you’d like to follow, click on their photo, then click on “Follow” and when they post, their comment will appear on your home page.
I hit update to get the latest.
Yesterday someone posted a way to receive automatic updates, but I’ve lost the link and forgotten who posted it.

Forgot to mention, if you want to post a comment, click on your Twitter homepage and you’ll see a little box under the words, “What are you doing?”. In that blank box, type whatever you want to say, then hit “Update” right under the little box.
