WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Democrat lawmakers on Friday proposed guaranteeing health coverage for nearly every American, despite mounting concerns the cost of doing so could torpedo the Obama administration's healthcare reform effort.
In the latest draft of the healthcare bill, Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives suggested all citizens should be able to get insurance regardless of medical history and that coverage should be mandatory for individuals and businesses.
The proposal would create a new government plan to help cover the uninsured -- a move backed by President Barack Obama but resisted by Republicans and some centrist Democrats who fear it will overwhelm private insurers and require vast amounts of public funding.
Republicans, the minority party in Congress, have set out their own more modest healthcare changes, but they lack the votes in either the House or the Senate to push them through or derail the Democrats' health reform drive.
They are seeking instead to moderate coming reforms and are focusing on the cost of restructuring the healthcare system, which is projected at more than $1.5 trillion -- a huge expense for a nation carrying record budget deficits.
The Democrats' bill would create new health insurance exchanges where people shop around for coverage. But whether or not a government-run plan has a role in these exchanges remains the subject of serious political debate.

Some realism needs to be applied. A major hospital stay is the difference between survival and bankruptcy. People do not need protection against visits to doctors but help is needed with major expenses. There should be a rational, non-political solution bearing in mind we are not a nation of slumdogs.

Absolutely impossible from THIS administration. Power and politics (they politicize everything) is their only true goal. This ruse and disaster is just a means to an end game.
I called Senator Grassley’s office today. I got one of his finance committee staffers (aka, handlers) who said this, and I quote,
“We are well aware of your position regarding Obama’s birth certificate — that the copy posted online is a forgery. Thanks for your call, but we are pursuing other violations of the Americorp program.”
My guess is that he’s getting dozens, maybe hundreds of calls, about IG Walpin, and I have no doubt that eligibility lawyers are calling, as well.
Walpin has a chance to make a big dent in Obama’s armour if he files a Quo Warranto challenging Obama, by what authority, does he have to fire an independent Inspector General?
Besides breaking the law regarding dismissal of IG’s, he’ll be nailed on document fraud and forced to prove his eligibility.
Sen. Grassley was not interested.

Exactly right. They will have everything in their data base. If you went to a Tea Party, protested at an abortion clinic, spoke out on the internet, etc., you’re on their list and targeted.
