ABC News officials Tuesday defended a planned White House-set special on health-care reform from charges by the Republican National Committee that it would be nothing more than a "glorified infomercial" to promote a Democratic agenda.
"Poppycock" is what ABC officials said, though in more official terms.
The dustup began when officials at the Republican National Committee got wind that ABC News would devote extensive coverage to the topic, including an interview with President Obama and the First Lady on "Good Morning America," a White House-set telecast of "World News" and a one-hour prime-time town-hall type discussion with the President on health care on June 24.
"I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue," RNC Chief of Staff Ken McKay wrote in a letter to ABC News President David Westin. The letter received prominent play Tuesday on the Drudge Report.
Not so fast, said ABC officials, who maintain all sides of the argument will be represented.
"In the end, no one watching, listening to, or reading ABC News will lack for an understanding of all sides of these important questions," ABC News Senior Vice President Kerry Smith said in a letter to the RNC.

“no one watching, listening to, or reading ABC News will lack for an understanding”
Yeah .... they got that partially right. NO ONE is WATCHING the All Bull Crap network.
I stand by reality of the university experience so very very long ago. All engineering school dropouts fled to the school of scissors, glue, and paste. The school of education or school of journalism. (today communications ... for the “squishy”) Both groups today are totally worthless, filled with imbeciles. It is what it is.
In the end, no one watching, listening to, or reading ABC News will lack for an understanding of all sides of these important questions,” ABC News Senior Vice President Kerry Smith said in a letter to the RNC.
So you are going to bring on family members of those people that died in other country’s because the single payer system they have failed?
You are going to show the 14 month waiting lists to get necessary surgery performed?
You are going to document the 10’s of thousands of people who because they can afford to pay leave their Country and come to America to get treatment forvarious illnesses?
Somehow I doubt that............
ABC - Always Barack Channel
Billy Mays just breathed a sigh of relief.
LLS
One more reason I don’t watch TV. I’ve got so many things to do that are vastly more satisfying.
Like, for example, FReeping :)
ABC News owned by Citadel. Citadel Investment Group, according to Wikipedia, is involved with equity options, market-making, hedge fund administration and multimanager investment strategies. Just wondering if Citadel will reap financial benefits from Obama’s health care plan in some fashion.
Maybe they can get Billy Mays (”Oxy Clean it!”)to hawk the plan on late night cable? Or Vince, the Sham-Wow (”are you gettin’ this, camera guy?”)and Slap Chop (”you’ll love my nuts”) guy.
Of course this ABC presentation will be an infomercial. No opposing POV? No rebuttal? No alternative proposals to be examined? Chat up the ‘feel good’ crap that supports this socialist message and massage the sheeple. Lull them into a trance-like state and they will be compliant, even willing, accomplices to the destruction of America.
It’s time to stop this march to marxism.
I don’t know why the news media even tries to defend its behavior anymore. Their bias is so blatant and obvious that it shouldn’t even be a point of debate.
One only has to compare the press’ treatment of George Bush to Bill Clinton or Barack Obama to see just how obvious it really is. It would take the jaws of life to separate the media’s lips from Barack’s ass.
Mr. Kerry Smith - save your breath. No one believes your pathetic lies anymore.
Oops - Mr=Ms.
You could be forgiven for making the mistake.
Does anyone really believe what ABC says?
Wouldn’t it be great if the viewership rated at around zero per cent or as close as possible to that?
We need to get hold of ABC advertisers...
I’ve made it a point not to watch the big 3 media for a while now, I’m digging in and redoubling my efforts now.
“We won’t give you equal time, but don’t worry. We’re objective...”
(OMIGOD did you see Obama? He looked at me....he is so dreamy....)
