Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has acknowledged an extramarital affair with a campaign staffer in a statement released by his office. "I deeply regret and am very sorry for my actions," said Ensign. He is expected to announce the affair at a press conference at 6:30 pm tonight. The affair, which was with a woman who worked for both Ensign's re-election campaign and his Battle Born leadership political action committee, began in December 2007 and ended in August 2008. Ensign's wife, Darlene, said that the couple's "marriage has become stronger" and added: "I love my husband."

Seriously, as if that wasn’t made clear around here during the primaries.
Had we not purged some of the better fighters of the party we wouldn’t be on the brink of a fascist takeover.
The “Resident in Chief” said we’re not a Christian nation.
So what’s the BFD ??????

And people wonder why our party is leaderless right now. I mean, why not scratch some names off of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution while we’re at it? A lot of those men had some pretty serious flaws as well.
Not only that, but this reinforces the perception that the GOP is populated by a bunch of holier-than-thou busybodies. It’s this perception, fair or not, that turns off a whole lot of Americans who otherwise support most of the Republican platform. I guess we’d prefer to be a pure minority than actually do anything for our country.
“No, no, hes heterosexual. If thisd been a gay thing he would have been in the wrong party.”
Ever hear of Larry Craig and Mark Foley?
Ensign will be easily relected to the senate in 2012, but his presidential aspirations are over.
Sorry, but I think this is nobody’s damn business.
Sure looks like it. Maybe he had on the job training from Bill Clinton.
Ensign will easily win re-election 2012, but his presidential aspirations are over.
There are some hypocrites on our side. Fools who are ready to destroy everyone who is not perfect.
You know, I really wish they would not trot out their poor wives. It is like cruelty heaped on cruelty :-(
Paging RNC, stop the screwing around, NOW!
LOL!
Actually, I'd like to see the wife standing next to him, listening, while he's making this BS speech about "how sorry he is", and then just, out of nowhere, she turns around and decks him!
If that happened, I think we'd all love her to death!
Ensign made a mistake, but his seat is safe, he’s not up until 2012, he’ll be fine, although his presidential aspirations are over. The big issue is the economy, it will dwarf most everything over the next 2 years.
Dem: resume enhancer
Rep: Kiss of death.
See ya John. Don’t let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out.
Actually, it is not as bad as I thought. He and his wife were separated at the time of the affair. They have since reconciled. He blew the whistle on it rather than be blackmailed.
They did have Jim McGreevey but lets at least be honest. The Republicans seems to have the lions share of outed gay scandals over the last 4 or 5 years.
The Dems are mostly out and don’t give a crap, like Barney Frank. I think it is the conservative gay politicians and leaders that are the repressed ones. Consider Rep. Edward L. Schrock(R), Sen. Larry Craig(R), RNC Chair Ken Mehlman(R), Rep. Mark Foley(R), NAE leader Ted Arthur Haggard(R), etc. etc.
Human nature is human nature, gay or straight, cheating or honest. It really isn’t a political ideology thing.
