It’s all about those Wednesday night cocktail parties for all their Dem/lib buds. They know the public is on to their $100 lb. Kobe beef and salmon with coucous extravaganzas... so they hide the list. Voila... no more nasty little news stories about their Louis the 14th spending habits.

Ok folks, I just did a search and found that Bush was sued by the Citizens for Reponsibility and Ethics in Washington for this information as well. The Judge determined Bush had to provide the information:

Think it’s only fair for CREW to get back to work to have Obama’s list released:

Aren’t these records public?

Is our press going to use FOIA to get the lists?

What about his promises of transparency?

Hello? Hello? Does anyone outside of conservative thinkers care? :(

This is so you won't know about the muuuuuuuslimmmms flying in from Atlantic City , taking a quick flight on Marine 1 over to Air Force 1 for a drunken flight around lower Manhattan to see the hole in the ground.

Al Capone is hiding in one of the guest quarters no doubt... that’s the Chicago way.

Do you have an EXACT quote of his statement on transparency?

If so, I’d deeply appreciate it. I tried to locate it online a while back and never could find anything but references to the quote.

I am a little confused on this. Is this a Bush era policy or something that Obama has made worse?

An even better link, from the White House:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/TransparencyandOpenGovernment/

SUBJECT: Transparency and Open Government

Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset. My Administration will take appropriate action, consistent with law and policy, to disclose information rapidly in forms that the public can readily find and use. Executive departments and agencies should harness new technologies to put information about their operations and decisions online and readily available to the public. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public feedback to identify information of greatest use to the public.

Tell you the truth, I was a little concerned after doing a search and found that Bush was sued for this information a couple of years ago. The judge ordered Bush to release the guest lists. So, I am unsure if this is normal practice or not. Do you know more on this subject? But, what is insulting - is that this administration has promised to be open and transparent and turns around and blocks information. Kind of like the recent firing of the IG. Not that it is surprising anymore, but still...

I think there is a natural tug of war between the branches on the release of this sort of information. While running for office, they make a big deal out of full disclosure and then clam up once elected. I am not sure this is news.
