FR EXCLUSIVE: RON NEHRING, CALIF GOP CHAIRMAN TO FREEP YOUR QUESTIONS--ASK AWAY!

FR EXCLUSIVE: RON NEHRING, CALIF GOP CHAIRMAN TO FREEP YOUR QUESTIONS! -- ASK AWAY!

I was invited to participate in a strategic GOP meeting on June 5, during which many topics including the Internet, voter registration and fundraising were discussed from a tech/strategy standpoint.

Durind the event I had the chance to speak with Ron Nehring, California GOP Chairman. I mentioned to him that GOP leadership is perceived as RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) by much of the grassroots.

When I noted that an enormous GOP opportunity exists among both Republicans and Democrats on the issue of our borders, fighting blatant amnesty for criminal aliens, he replied--much to my surprise--that in his eight years in leadership not a single candidate has sought his counsel on this topic.

We discussed GOP party involvement in the primary process. If I understood correctly what he said, candidates are not assisted by party leadership until after they win a primary--Republican candidates must slug it out with their own local efforts and resources. This is a marked difference from the 'central casting' done effectively by the DNC.

As we spoke, I suggested to Ron that he participate in an online discussion at FreeRepublic, and mentioned that Duncan Hunter has done so. He agreed.

I then spoke with Jim Robinson and mentioned how I'd like this to serve as a template for not just California but for the leadership of all 50 state GOPs and for the RNC to do likewise, as a means of being sure the voting, contributing grassroots and the state and national leadership are all committed to winning the same platform. If merely "a failure to communicate" is the problem, FR can be the solution.

Here's how Ron and I agreed it would go: I would solicit worthwhile questions (QUESTIONS THAT GENERATE MORE LIGHT THAN HEAT), and then Ron would then respond online.

This thread is the one that is soliciting your questions, publicly or by FREEPMAIL ("Private Reply"). I will screen the public and private questions and arrange a follow-up thread where the questions and answers will be published in a few days, hopefully interactively.

While this is the California GOP, those of you in other states please feel welcome to clone this effort so as to give your state leadership the best possible chance to show strong commitment to all issues that relate to Conservatism and the GOP. I also welcome privately-submitted suggestions and background information. Whether public or private, be sure your issue is specific and verifiable.

Please be certain that the questions are framed in a neutral, non-hostile manner, without false premises or profanity or they will be pulled. However, DON'T shy away from asking tough questions. Remember, "Loose Lips Sink Ships" so use discretion in what you post publicly. I can ask Ron Nehring private questions. Freepmail and spellcheck are your friend.

Please accept my thanks in advance for your participation.

"Please give me one good verifiable reason why not a single elected California Republican stood up to ask Mr. Obama for his Certificate of Live Birth and the other commonly rendered documents that every other candidate for President has layed out for the voters to examine before voting."

Section three of the twentieth amendment..

" ”3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Oath of office, Article six...

” The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Challenging the qualifications of Obama is DEMANDED by the Constitution.

Obey this document or suffer the consequences for yourselves and your descendants.

Sir,

The Contract with America provided a focus to the Republican party. Something solid to build your brand around. Would you consider a new Contract with America? (Don’t tell my to read the party platform. It is a bloated joke that not even party elite take seriously).

Parenthetically, why do you think the Republican party abandoned the Contract with America when it was so clearly an election success?

You turn a blind eye in your church.

Your ignorance of the inner-workings of the Methodist Church does a great disservice to xzins, and thousands of others. Yes, many of the problems you listed do exist. But they are not representative of the church as a whole.

There are thousands of conservative Methodists fighting against the liberal trend, not willing to surrender centuries of proclaiming the gospel to the vocal minority espousing liberal, and non-Biblical principles.

And no, I'm not a Methodist.

cut the crap - you made an assertion - I proved it wrong - as a pastor, x is a conservative influence from within the church, and Im sure he’s not the only one. Unfortunately, aspects of leadership are liberal...yet you cite them as all encompassing

California is sitting on some of the largest oil reserves in the country yet they refuse to drill. With the state of the economy being what it is, how can they continue to ignore a major source of income.

I'll repeat tx's question. Drilling would pretty much get us out of the hole and set us up as a solid, profitable state.

Drilling and quit paying for services for illegal immigrants alone would set CA right!

Iowa’s GOP is as feckless as California’s.

EV: You're full of you-know-what and you know it. Stop slandering a whole bunch of very good people.

Stop using FR as a means to try to destroy the Republican party so you can hopefully get a few gullible contributors to your phony "third party" that will never do anything constructive and you know it. The best you can hope for is to elect some more Democrats.

I stand by every word I've said. I have stated only the truth and I believe it is wrong to demand perfection from a political party while accepting apostasy from the church.

Perhaps the difference is that we don’t equate eternal salvation with political success.

Your proselytizing may vary.

I have stated only the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts. Where was I wrong?

I am not claiming that x is not a conservative. He probably is but at the same time, he's willing to accept the liberalism within the Methodist church while he expects perfection from the Republican party and I consider this philosophy to be backward.

I know what I'm talking about. I've made a study of the NCC for many years. My MIL was warning me about the NCC in the 50s.

I left an apostate ELCA over 15 years ago for the exact same reasons. These "churches" are not churches at all--they're left wing, liberal political institutions and they're blindly leading thousands of gullible parishoners down the primrose path.

Even if you have a Godly pastor in a congregation (and I suppose that describes X), you are still contributing to the political activity of the hierarchy. Each conservative that sits in the pew of one of these churches and contributes financially to it is helping to promote socialism and the evils associated with it.

Thank you and you are stating my point exactly. I consider eternal salvation to be far more important than what happens here on earth and I view it as these "purists" being far more lax in what they expect from a church than what they expect from a political party. It's backwards.

I wish that Ron could encourage the Party Members in the CA congress to concentrate on the bigger picture of problems that face this state (the biggest one being the "governator' and his unsurprising left lean) and let Levin's determination to do away with pet animals and their responsible owners alone.

This bill has become a persecution of purebred dog owners and does not even address the huge overpopulation problem because it goes after the identifiable persons who are in the sport and leaves the pet on the street free to propagate the over-population problem.

Unimportant? Perhaps in comparison, but another sign of BIG BROTHER relieving us of and our personal rights to decide what and how we conduct our lives.Hope I don't get drummed out of the site for this "trivia".

I belong to a church that points out that there is law and gospel. I demand far more from my church than my political party. They are two different things. I want godly people in positions of authority but it is not their job to teach the gospel.

I had to leave an apostate church (the ELCA) which is very much like the modern-day Methodist church.

If people like X can somehow lead the whole Methodist church away from the NCC and return it to being a Biblically-based church, I am all for it. WE would all be better off as churches are going more and more liberal all the time--just like schools and education.

As a matter of fact, I believe that the liberalism in churches is more responsible for the moral decay we have in this country than even education.

If we can't get the truth at our churches, where can we get it?

I haven't intended to be inconsistent at all. I'm only saying I see people here on FR being inconsistent as to what they are willing to accept in their churches and their political party.

They want perfection from the political party and are willing to accept more than imperfection (even apostasy) from their churches. It makes no sense to me.

Why aren't the republicans now in office in CA doing these things and when are going to run candidates that will?:

1:)Pushing for driling our oil offshore

2:) ending much of the EPA regs that stifle business

3:)Pushing for the elimination of the income tax in CA

4:)Pushing for massive spending cuts the involve both the government work force and the elected officials, I.E. Salary cuts for the legislature and huge firings in the non-elected positions

5:)Pushing for the elimination of the Unions.

6:) Pushing to end all the ridiculous anti-gun and anti-ammo laws now on the books and pending for the future.

7:)Fighting the ridiculous "global warming" hoax and the expenditures that accompany it. This is a large expense that would help rid us of a deficit if we dumped the the cost associated with it.

8:)Pushing to have the illegals run out of CA and telling Arnold that "Yes, illegals are a large part of the problem with the budget

9:)Telling the truth about the destructive path the President is on when it comes to the economy. 10:) Pushing to NOT have a fed bailout and refusing to take bailout money

That about covers it for now but I am sure there are some things I have forgotten.

You obviously have no idea how methodism works. For example, you write: “You support and give credence to a “church” that invites Jeremiah Wright to speak.”

I did not invite Jeremiah Wright to speak. He hasn’t been seen in these parts. Nor has my bishop invited him to speak, and that’s as far as it goes. The area covered by our bishop answers to no higher level of any hierarchy.

If some other individual church or individual bishop invites someone to speak, then they are separate from us. I can say absolutely nothing about that. They don’t answer to me or my bishop.

Every 4 years (for only 10 days), there is a convention at which we rewrite our rules and plans. That body of elected members could, perhaps, put in one of our documents: “No one is allowed to invite Jeremiah Wright” to speak. But, they wouldn’t do it, and I wouldn’t want them to. That’s getting way too far into the weeds.

What you don’t understand is that Methodism has no “pope” or “ruler” who is in charge of the big group. It’s a bunch of little groups (annual conferences and boards/agencies) that are on their own except for a 4-year meeting at which plans are made and rules are rewritten.

Allow me to remind you of what I said earlier: “You have it backward. It makes more sense to work hard to reform your church than it does to reform your political party.” Jesus founded the church. Who founded the GOP?

All that said, let me agree with you that some of our independent regions are way out in left field. I have absolutely zero influence over them except in terms of the every 4 year meeting....and that’s been slowly going our way for the last 16 years.
