Has A-Rod said anything about this at all? I’m guessing he doesn’t even want to come near this controversy. But I’d be fuming if I were him.

Leno didn’t refer to the 17 year as a slut nor did he advocate rape of a minor much unlike that supercilious lumpy letterman. What letterman did is an affront to all parents. And I’m just angry and I want his scalp.

“Fighting fire with fire” requires that we buy into the liberal premise that people deserve to lose their livelihood for expressing disagreement with the conventional wisdom of the crybaby asking for the firing (whether that “wisdom” be liberal or conservative).
There were several on this board suggesting we make an attempt to get Garofalo fired from 24 for the crime of being liberal. That’s no less ridiculous than trying to get a conservative fired for being conservative.
This is a surrender of our principles. Free speech is worthwhile.

I’ll not defend the Leno joke, but will say that at least it was topical. The Letterman comments demonstrate that every time Sarah Palin does anything, even go to a baseball game, they are going to attack her children.
I’m not convinced the problem is the comedians. The audience is generally just as obnoxious. Where there is demand, there will be supply.

The key word here is consent
It is still suggesting rape, regardless of how subtle the suggestion is, of an underage girl. Edwards sneaking around hotel rooms with and knocking up adult women is a far cry from Edwards knocking up a teenage girl living at home with her Republican parents. It may be a shot at Edwards, but it was also a shot at the Palin family.

I agree with your premise, but the only group that actually enjoys free speech is liberals. What they say is free, what we say is hate.
And while it's important not to surrender our principles, it's equally important not to surrender the battlefield. And, by ceding to the liberals, and their partners in crime in the ubiquitous media, the ability to say whatever they want, while editing every word that comes out of our mouth, is equally self-defeating.
Letterman, himself, “knocked up” a butt-ugly employee and is now married to her.
It might explain why he is so bitter and hateful these days.
