To some people, Barack Obama is just a hard guy to figure out. He won’t fit easily in the usual mental pigeon holes, and that gets frustrating. Just this week, Rush Limbaugh referred to the president as “a half-black, half-white human being with no experience running anything of substance.”
I have no idea what made that “half-black, half-white” thing relevent. But apparently it’s an important observation, at least in Rush’s World.
Then there’s the matter of Obama’s religion. Over at Politico, they noted that “Barack Obama invokes Jesus more than George W. Bush.”
“In his speech Thursday in Cairo, Obama told the crowd that he is a Christian and mentioned the Islamic story of Isra, in which Moses, Jesus and Mohammed joined in prayer.
At the University of Notre Dame on May 17, Obama talked about the good works he’d seen done by Christian community groups in Chicago. “I found myself drawn — not just to work with the church but to be in the church,” Obama said. “It was through this service that I was brought to Christ.”
And a month before that, Obama mentioned Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount at Georgetown University to make the case for his economic policies. Obama retold the story of two men, one who built his house on a pile of sand and the other who built his on a rock: “We cannot rebuild this economy on the same pile of sand,” Obama said. “We must build our house upon a rock.”
But in the Washington Times, the increasingly loony Frank Gaffney insists that appearances not withstanding, Obama is actually … well, why not let Frank explain it to you:
“…. there is mounting evidence that the president not only identifies with Muslims, but actually may still be one himself. Consider the following indicators:
• Mr. Obama referred four times in his speech to “the Holy Koran.” Non-Muslims — even pandering ones — generally don’t use that Islamic formulation.
• Mr. Obama established his firsthand knowledge of Islam (albeit without mentioning his reported upbringing in the faith) with the statement, “I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed.” Again, “revealed” is a depiction Muslims use to reflect their conviction that the Koran is the word of God, as dictated to Muhammad.
• Then the president made a statement no believing Christian — certainly not one versed, as he professes to be, in the ways of Islam — would ever make. In the context of what he euphemistically called the “situation between Israelis, Palestinians and Arabs,” Mr. Obama said he looked forward to the day “. . . when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together as in the story of Isra, when Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them) joined in prayer.”
…. In the final analysis, it may be beside the point whether Mr. Obama actually is a Muslim. In the Speech and elsewhere, he has aligned himself with adherents to what authoritative Islam calls Shariah — notably, the dangerous global movement known as the Muslim Brotherhood … “
So, to review:
Half black, half white. Half Christian, half Muslim. Half American, half Other….
Why, he’s President Half and Half! Pour him in your morning coffee and — voila! — suddenly it’s a little lighter in color, and a little less bitter on the taste buds.
And you know, maybe that’s the problem: I suspect that some folks prefer to swallow their bitterness straight up, no chaser. They prefer to see the world in stark black and white, with no shades of subtle gray.
And certainly no shades of mocha.

What makes it important is that some people find it VERY important that Obama is the "first black president," which is factually untrue unless we've reverted to the days of slavery/segregation were a percentage threshold of "black" blood made one "black."

Dunno. obozo was propelled into political awareness by elitists monied people who spent millions of dollars to buy the presidency for him. obozo doesn’t have any background in politics or management of any type of business. his background papers where people could view and vet are missing or unable access the paperwork to find who the hell is obozo. the lid on his path through life is tighter than an NASA’s O-ring.
This strikes me as a rather Socratic article - meandering through current affairs on the presidential scene, pointing out the observations of others but unable to formulate any kind of impression or draw any conclusions. One wonders why this was published...it’s lousy.

Christians do not refer to the koran as holy.
Obama is a classic narcissist, and a powerfully successful one as well. In the mold of Koresh, or Jones or the half dozen other 20th century, totalitarian or cult leaders. In Obama's mind, there isn't race or religion or even a country of origin, there's just Obama.
There's simply not room for anything else in his heart and mind given the size of his own ego. Anything else he talks about is just part of his big seduction to the targeted audience de jour.

Nails it. No Christian would say that is where it was revealed. They may say that is where it originated, but the word revealed. No way. No how.
