Does anyone know if this is legal? We just got a parking ticket for parking in the grass in our own yard. The ticket says "can not park on grass or unpaved area(even if your own yard). I swear to god this is what the ticket says and its a $50 ticket that doubles to $100 then doubles to $200 Does anyone know anything about this law????
It’s not about the grass. It’s about all the vehicles. They don’t like that you have all those vehicles and trailers. The car on the grass was all they could come up with for a ticket.
The harassment won’t end until you are down to an average number of vehicles. So find out who is doing it and make sure they know you know.
If someone in the neighborhood is having a party, a lot of times I’ll park one of our cars in the back yard by the garage to give visitors more parking space.
My husband ran to the grocery store to get milk and bread...then he pulled the un-rusted, fully functional car in the fron yard...
Such laws and codes are antiquated anyway. It's been something like 50 years since refrigerators and freezers were made with latching doors that couldn't be opened from the inside.
Cops want to write tickets; it is why they became cops. They continue to write silly traffic citations while the real crime logs continue to grow and cases remain unsolved.
Was your citation the result of a complaint? If so, find out who complained and “talk” to them.
Pay the ticket, accept the fact of the matter and move on. It is not worth fighting; not for $50.
Look at the ticket, they should have given the statute number for the law that was violated. If there is no statute listed then it is probably not a legal writ. With any law you as the defendant have the right to review the law to determine a remedy of law for your defence. You can consult a lawyer but keep in mind they are officers of the court and are more likely to sell you out in court than help you. Look up the laws for yourself before hiring a lawyer. Most states have the laws posted on the Internet but your city ordenances will have to be looked up in your local Library, city councles office or court house.
Too many damn cops and not enough real work is the problem.
Explain to the authorities that you were washing the car and conserving water by watering the lawn at the same time. Just being a good greenie—how can they object?
Code 26-127.04.18
(b) Stopping, standing, or parking. No person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle:They gotcha.(18) On an unpaved area of a residential lot that is one (1) acre or less in size.(e) Penalty. Any person issued a citation for a violation of this Section shall be subject to a fine of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for each offense.
You said you have 4 cars and a trailer, does any one of the 4 usually sit on your grass? If you are short of driveway space I think I’d build more driveway because if they got you once, they will get you again. I’ll bet a bitchy neighbor turned you in.
We have a 3 dog limit and we have 4 dogs, I have been expecting.............
“No one parks on their lawns in my neighborhood.”
The neighbors that were stacking 12+ people in their little 3 bedroom house parked 7 of their cars all over their lawn and our town did nothing about it.
gree with a lot of posters, what the heck are you doing parking on the grass? I dont care if its yours or Yankee Stadium. Its a trailer trash habit that just devalues your home and the community. Double park if you must, but never ever park or let someone park on your grass( exception is if you have a lot of property behind the house that will hide the car from view.
Well, I dunno, I always park in my front yard on the grass. But then again I have five acres and I have no where else to park, except on my “lawn”. Ha!
I think the cop followed him from the grocery store. The grocery store receipt say he left the store at 7:55 and the ticket is at 8:32 pm and its not a ticket from a cop its one of those revenue authority people that ticket people at the mall parking lots.
May be worth a look.
Obviously YOU do. You got a ticket.
Maybe you should move to Rio Linda.
The supreme court says you have no property rights. It's just a matter of the correct developer buying the correct amount of votes.
Solution: Pave your front yard. Completely.
