We had a time with one of our local code people over a upright freezer we had in the carport. They kept leaving us notices that we had to take the door off. Such laws and codes are antiquated anyway. It's been something like 50 years since refrigerators and freezers were made with latching doors that couldn't be opened from the inside.

Yeah, but kids can and do get in them and fall asleep. If they are air tight you end up with a dead kid. Kids can do the dumbest things sometimes.
