Ticket for parking on grass in my own yard(PARKING TICKET)

Posted on 06/10/2009 6:29:47 PM PDT by Jessica2677

Does anyone know if this is legal? We just got a parking ticket for parking in the grass in our own yard. The ticket says "can not park on grass or unpaved area(even if your own yard). I swear to god this is what the ticket says and its a $50 ticket that doubles to $100 then doubles to $200 Does anyone know anything about this law????

We live in Norman, OK, the reddest of the states, and my son-in-law got a ticket for parking on the grass exactly 18 inches beyond a parking pad next to the driveway. We appealed and it was dismissed.

We have parking people who roam the streets to give all kinds of tickets. It is ridiculous IMHO.

It isn’t within 6 feet of my house, it is on the side property line. For all intents and purposes it is a fence with a door and a latch. It is built out of cedar fence material and it is 6 feet high. You can’t tell from the out side that it has a cement floor or screen wire over the top. We have so many wild animals right here in central Houston that my trash would be all over the yard without cans with latching lids or my trash enclosure.

Now I see why our country is the way it is right now. We have destroyed what we stand for and that is the bottom line.

It was illegal 60 years ago or more around where I live. No parking on front lawns is not some new commie plot.

Then the answer is real simple, you and your caring neighbors get yor $$ together and buy out the guy you dislike . That way you do not have to complain about how he parks his car.

We have three older women in Norman that do drive around to give tickets. Our neighbor’s son got one for parking more then 18 inches from the curb.

We had a warning when the car was parked 9’10” from the fire hydrant and it had to be 10 feet. She took out her measuring stick to measure it.

Really!!! How would I know that, my binoculars don't let me watch the neighbors that far.

Are you trying to be cute or are you just plain stupid!

Sounds like you have a problem with binoculars. It sounds like it's you with binoculars in every window.

By the way, when the neighbor's property is adjacent to mine, I don't need binoculars to notice a problem with their yard or the many vehicles they park on it.

Again, why are you acting stupid? Or is that your regular mental state?

All I can say is with this kind of thinking we are no longer free. Neighbors complaining because a car is parked on the grass....PEOPLE its grass it will grow back!
This is why America has all these problems right now....tooo many rules and laws.
When your neighbor can dictate what you do on your land is really bad.
What next you can only have a cookout between the hour of 2 and 6 pm on Saturdays and if its windy you cant have a cookout at all because the smell from your grill may cause harm to the neighbor who cant afford beef.

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned not parking on grass because of a possible fire hazard.

And yes, I report people who don’t stack their damn multiple cars in the garage or driveway. The streets are narrow and not made for parking on both sides and traffic. If you (by that I mean people in my neighborhood) bought a house w/a 2 car garage, please use the frickin’ garage!

I find your ‘trailer trash’ statement offensive.

Alot of good people live in trailers, because it was all they could afford, or their job was so ‘mobile’ that buying an actual house was not financially feasible.

As for parking in front of your own home, on your own grass... maybe the person had alot to take into the house, maybe they were injured, maybe it was pouring rain...

Try thinking before spouting ‘trailer trash’.

When I lived in Winooski (hey, I got out) we could only park in the driveway, never on the lawn. When winter came (and the street parking ban) I had to park the second car at a nearby business.

Yes even FR has plenty of people who don’t respect PRIVATE property rights! And yet some of these same idiots will bitch about the Kelo decision.

Believe it or not in this section of Ct, folks still value their property and their freedom and they discount neighbors with big noses and the lawn police on speed dial.

Would it be OK with you if your neighbor parked 50 cars in his yard and started selling them? And had those cool multicolored pennants hanging from the lights that he leaves on all night? And the blow up gorilla on his roof?

A lady across the street from us had a giant tree on our property cut down by the city because it was adorning her house with pine needles. Welcome to the neighborhood.

You are the one acting stupid, leave the neighbor along and stop being a busy body. The joke about the Latinos was because the guy down the street with three broke down cars in his drive is a Mexican. But I would never think of calling a cop on him. It’s his Sh** and he can live in it. If it really PO’s me I’ll buy him out, maybe you should do the same.

You say that as a joke, but there are a couple here who think that is their right,

All I can say is this is the guts of why America is the way it is now....it all makes sense to me now.
A simple parking ticket and I have figured it out.

To all of you who are all for not parking on the grass I hope you get a ticket...and think of me.
