Many have claimed the federal government was playing fast and loose with the rules surrounding its takeover of General Motors and the circumstances surrounding the selection of which dealerships would remain open and those that wouldn't. Fox News' Gretchen Carlson came forward with evidence of this through a personal account of dealership closings.
Carlson, a co-host on the Fox News Channel's morning show "Fox & Friends," appeared on Glenn Beck's June 9 program and questioned the logic behind the decision reached by the government and General Motors (GM) to close down a dealership that has been in her family for 90 years.
"I'd like to get a hold of the car czar too," Carlson said. "Never did I think personally that I would need to get a hold of him, but now I do because my parents have owned a General Motors dealership in Anoka, Minn., for 90 years and they were terminated last week and they would like to know why. They would like to know why from the car czar."

A lot of that on this thread...
Her family has owned the dealership for 90 years.
Oh. Ok...glad to hear it isn’t you.
Sucks for the people who it does effect though.
No mas no mas, I get it. I apologyzed. Don’t shoot.
read the article........the dealership has been in her family for 90 years.
always better to check the article and thread before saying something silly like that because freepers have no mercy, you will be told again and again and again and again of your error....
Even if true, BFD. This is about the tenth time I have posted this, but I will post it again:
THE POLITICS OF THE DEALERSHIPS THAT ARE BEING CLOSED IS ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT UNLESS IT DIFFERS SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE POLITICS OF THE DEALERSHIPS THAT WILL REMAIN OPEN. IF, FOR EXAMPLE, 95% OF THE DEALERSHIPS BEING CLOSED SUPPORT THE GOP AND 95% OF THE DEALERSHIPS THAT REMAIN OPEN SUPPORT THE RATS, THEN YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE ISSUE. BUT IF 95% OF BOTH GROUPS OF DEALERS SUPPORT THE GOP, THEN THERE IS REALLY NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT EXCEPT FOR THE SOCIALIZATION OF AMERICA.
My point is this: Stop focusing on the dealers that are being closed down and start focusing on the dealers that are being allowed to stay open.
I read somewhere that the dealerships that were closed down were almost all Republican donors.
I hope that can be proved
And that alone would prove what? Any valid comparisons would have to go much deeper.
So then in the Clinton Administration, Hillary was Health and Human Services Czar?
You like the Shep?
Yup, clearly committed a high crime here.
well you live and learn!
I agree the details as to what criteria were used in selecting the stores to be closed are what is needed to make any assessment. I don’t know for sure but I read one article about sales volumes and it indicated that several hundred GM stores had a low sales volume. That indicated to me a store in a smaller community but most likely with very loyal customers. GM recently or was in the process of having franchisees remodel or rebuild to give a certain look to the store. Of the 1100 or so GM stores it would interesting to know how many were single line such as Saturn, Hummer or Pontiac all of which where being phased out.
“You like the Shep?”
Not my type. Besides, I think she’s Anderson Cooper’s girl. ; )
Well, traditionally car dealers are considered little better than an ambulance chasing lawyer, so for most people they don't care which dealer gets closed, as long as they get closed!
Pretty safe bet that it involved packaging a pile of political contributions. This reeks of corruption.
“feel the same about your posts.”
And you think I care about what you *feel*? Where’d you ever get that idea?
You sound just like the Freeperes who complain that the Seinfield show is about a bunch of immature self centered egotists,
;-)
