Any health care reform plan that Obama signs is almost certain to call for nutrition counseling, obesity screenings and wellness programs at workplaces and community centers. He wants more time in the school day for physical fitness, more nutritious school lunches and more bike paths, walking paths and grocery stores in underserved areas.
The president is filling top posts at Health and Human Services with officials who, in their previous jobs, outlawed trans fats, banned public smoking or required restaurants to provide a calorie count with that slice of banana cream pie.
Even Congress is getting into the act, giving serious consideration to taxing sugary drinks and alcohol to help pay for the overhaul.
To some, it smacks of a nanny state on steroids but for others who fret that America is turning into one big Overeaters Anonymous meeting, Obamas prescription is like a low-fat dream come true.

Folks, instead of complaining and whining we need to rise up and stop this...
I mean, our President smokes. There are pictures of him doing all over the place, and he is SUPPOSED to set the EXAMPLE for good health to his nation. After all, we pay for him to have the best doctors at his disposal.
Maybe uhbama should CLEAN UP HIS OWN SELF before he starts demanding that the fatties clean up their act.

Ah, but you forget the mindset of the left.
“ELITIST authoritarian collectivists”
The “elitist” part exempts the “leadership” from the rules they’d impose on others. The reasoning is that complying with those rules would impede their achievement of their lofty goals.
Is O exempting linebacker Michelle from his new plans.
I can see it now. Calorie credits.
You get a card with your allotted calorie count on it.
Whenever you eat, you have to swipe your card deducting your calories for the month. Once you’re out, you can’t eat any more, unless you “purchase” more calories by exercising.
Hi, I’m Bunny, nice to meet you. Gooniegoogoo.
Amen. Let me guess... halal.
OT: Check it out (scroll down to DOJ headscarf case or as I say, imposing Islam... which is political and ‘above’ any constitution or rights of ‘any’ country):

Who Patrick Ewing?
All liberals should be forced to work for any gov't agency for two years. Maybe then they'd sober up.
My rehabilitation plan for Obama would be for him to spend his date-nights at the cafeteria in any federal office building.
The one good thing I read in the article said that they are going to remove junk food from welfare. I, for one, am tired of standing behind a 400 pound woman in the grocery store line who pays for her potato chips and orange sodas with my money. Just sayin....
But it just galls me when liberals fail to take their own to the woodshed.
I mean...if President Bush had smoked, david letterman, jay leno, SNL, all the opinion journalists and liberal analysts would have been SCREAMING THROUGH THE ROOF about his filthy, unsafe, damaging to those around him smoking habit. They would have been raising the rafters demanding that President Bush should set a good example for the youth in this nation, etc. You KNOW they would have.
And if President Bush had taken Laura on a date to NY and used the American tax dollar for such a stupid plan THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN LIVID!!! Demanding to know the full cost laid upon the taxpayer.
And if President Bush had complained about HOW HARD the work is being President...the liberal press would have sneered at him and made a BIG DEAL about his whines and complaints and self-pity.
It goes on and on....and it is so sick and deeply obvious that the press ignores the creepy and dirty stuff that is uhbama's baggage.
Thanks a lot. You just gave them an idea. Sheesh!
Barack Obama’s gov’t-mandated diet plan (Ruh roh)
I’m looking forward to Michael Moore having to adhere to a government sponsored ‘diet’.
“I’m with the Government, and I’m here to improve you.”
Cost to run food reeducation camps: 10.5 billion dollars.
Minimum fine for eating a twinkie: $500
Oh , happy days.
LOL
Obesity is a greater public health hazard than smoking. 30% of the population is obese. Not just overweight but FAT! Obesity adds $15,000-20,000 to the average lifetime healthcare cost. It triples the incidence of cancer, doubles the risk of diabetes, and significantly increases the risk of arthritis, high blood pressure, and coronary disease.
It’s your business, if you overeat and under exercise, but when it starts to cost me money in the form of higher insurance premiums or taxes, it then becomes MY business.
I’m all in favor of these initiatives.
