Updated, 4:15 p.m. | ALBANY Democrats appeared to have lost their majority in the New York State Senate on Monday, in a stunning and sudden reversal of fortunes for a party that has controlled the chamber for barely five months.

I hope this is the beginning of a trend that will culminate
in a GOP victory in 2010!
I heard Rush today saying how good Rudy was for NYC, and how cleaning up the city of crime and addressing quality of life issues were extraordinary accomplishments.
If you read the newspaper article, it mentioned “Rochester billionaire Golisano.” I seems to recall his being a major power broker in NYS who threatened to leave the state if they pushed thru the tax increases the group in charge until this coup this afternoon was supporting.
maybe they’re lib rhinos, you know... Conservatives in disguise. It’s rare but it’s a possibility.
Handwriting is on the walls boys and girls.
Did you take some time to head upstate to see Sarah Palin? Seems a lot of upstate NYers were enchanted hearing her speak....unlike their former senator and our Feckless Leader who hail from some little city west of the Hudson.
This turn is as local as it is state-wide. There’s a ground-revolt going on across the state, starting in Westchester, of all places: anti-tax and anti-big gov. My understanding is that only two townships in all of NY State last year rejected town council budgets, and both did so as result of conservative insurgency. One of them wss Bedford Hills, not exactly a conservative bastion.
This is true grass-roots. The tea-parties are taking effect.
She is a great lady.
Two Hispanic Democrats, one from the Bronx and one from Queens, were being strongarmed by the Demo leadership to support “Gay Marriage.”
They had to bolt to the GOP or be squeezed into something they could not accept.
Thank You Gay Lobby.
Hope and change.
I know.. Do we really want a rat infestation? lol.
Oh, come on! You’re not going to get perfection. At times, it’s better to accept the better of two alternatives than to hold out. Support the GOP and let’s not slit out throats like we did in ‘08.
Great post and thanks for letting people know about the ins and outs of NYS. Not having a conservative GOPer in NYS government is kind of a given.
Maybe McCain really might lose.
If so, they’ll be needing a few more “replacement mavericks” won’t they?
don’t they realize that the right to bear table legs only applies to the state? /s
Go NY Go!
