Headline tells the story
Think about it, though.
Send a couple hot Asian babes in to Area 51 with a camera.
Odds are they would be treated better than they would in NK, but that’s not a sure thing by any means!
hmm..
Nope... I still got nothing...
Just because someone is “good” at their job or passionate about their beliefs or work does not make their lives worth caring about. That link of “caring” is established through a commonality of beliefs, culture, ideologies, etc.
Honestly, I do NOT have that link with leftists, their physical or mental wellbeing is not something I can devote even the smallest amount of time towards caring about. I simply CANT care, at all, about people who would enslave me and those I love to the collective and or the state.
Maybe shes “brave” but there are always brave people on all sides of a conflict. Im sure there were brave Nazis who were good at their job... There were MANY brave Japanese pilots during WWII... but I certainly would not shed a tear over their graves.
“Current” is just another manifestation of the socialist propaganda mechanism. Anyone who works for it deserves nothing but spite, and will never receive even a brief amount of sympathy from me.
Even if I had the power to press a button and save them, I would not do so. I kinda like the idea of them suffering in what amounts to the culmination of their ideology.
You make it sound so trivial. Read #320.
Or call ahead to go into NK for a story and be under state watch the entire time..you know those celeb anchors that have sat with dictators and were shown only what they were allowed to see for NK propaganda, Cuba etc
There are those that take risks and there are those that never will; but are quick to judge those that do.
And then they came for............
Or its only JUST about our economy, the Right vs. The Left, the auto manufacturers & their (failed)bankruptcy filings, a date night to NYC..there are those that do not even have an "economy", a roof over their heads, clean water, a doctor, food, orphans caring for orphans..there is so much more to "our world"; or at least there should be.
It's commendable that some will always care, for we could just simply let all governments tell us what we NEED to know.
Off my soapbox!!
Everyone is overreacting... besides that, it isnt like these are Americans who are valuable enough to subsidize their existence by paying them to watch TV
—who decides the “value” of any person? Certainly not you or me...I will give you a clue...starts with “G”, ends with “D” and is 3 letters long.
So hope you really are not saying that because they work for Al Bore, they have no value as humans. If my kids were in that situation, I hope my kids would not be denied aid from the US due to their politics. H*ll, with this economy, I might be working for Al Bore too if I needed a job.
They don’t look all that old—maybe mid 20s, one has a child. I am not sure of all the circumstances, we have what the camera man said and are relying on his accuracy. However, they were charged with grave crimes? They crossed a river to take a pic. No trial. Wow...we as world superpower should be putting pressure to get them out! Depends how you define negotiating. We should be pressuring. That is my opinion.
If you think this is an overreaction fine. My reaction stems from two things:
1. The NK never would have pulled the stunts they are pulling (ending the 1953 armacist(sp), nuke tests, missile tests, and capturing and imprisoning Americans), if the dear leader wasn’t perceived as a weakling. Doing nothing just furthers that perception. Heck, send in the Seals to get em out! Whatever, but don’t do nothing.
2. I have done some reading on the North Korean concentration camp system. We are talking on par with Nazi Germany here... No one deserves to be there—esp US Citizens who will get worst treatment of all. Regardless of political affiliation of the captives, I fear for their lives.
—I am pro-life and not just for babies or Republicans. I believe they have value and that there are ways to get them out rather than say nothing can be done.—they are not hostages per se, they are prisoners. Iran released the reporter from North Dakota, perhaps NK can be convinced to do the same.
We disagree.
If Reagan or Bush were President, this probably wouldn't have happened in the first place!!!
Oh absolutely agree—stated that way that in another post& —esp. with Reagan.
There’s no OTOH in this one; there is no moral equivalency.
They may has well be sentenced to Rura Penthe...
I don’t think you need to send reporters to get an idea on how bad things are in NK. There are plenty of refugees and escapees who can tell us all we want to know. If our government need more info we have satellites, eavedropping and God knows spies within to get all the info on the suffering. The problem with these two women reporters are they were caught on the wrong side of the Yalu River. I can imagine a reporters’ zeal, but this really bites the cake. You can trespass onto the White House and even the Pentagon, reporters can probably get a way with it, but North Korea, no way. Now the NK have two US citizens they can use for propaganda, bargaining chip and if possible arouse American public outcry to do something, which in itself is another form of diplomatic pressure on our efforts to negotiate with NK over their nuke program and their desire to blackmail us for food and cash. If one wants to be successful in life, common sense and not blind ideology will be the best guide. These two women did not demonstrate common sense, and God they will pay for it in a labor camp.

At least they aren’t in Gitmo. I hear there are horrible human rights abuses there.
There is no such thing as "illegal crossing". This is a world of open borders, hasn't Kim Jong heard?
What do you suggest then? Giving the reporters Nobel Peace Prizes for stupidity? Fee's post wasn't defending or justifying NK it was telling the reality of the situation. Go to NK looking for trouble and you'll sure find it from Cwazy Weader. Just common sense. Reach into a Vipers den and get bit do you then blame the one who tells you it's a snake den and you have no business sticking your hand in it? Those two and Mr Gore just bought us a lot of trouble. A rabid dog is just that you can't pet it.
I know all about NK. But these gals knew what they were doing was illegal. That's all I'm saying. Its like any thing else, you take the risk you reap the reward or suffer the consequence. They're going to suffer.
The TV channel bears a huge responsibility for this.
It’s one thing to file those CURRENTV reports, hip, modern, and all about me, and my reaction to Indonesia, India, Timbuktu where ever they may be. They file ‘edgy’ reports from various troublespots, but the overall impression is one of preening conceit masquerading as “journalism”.
It’s another thing to assign reporters to sneak in to NorthKorea.
More than sad that these guys got jailed and have now become hostage pawns in Lil Kim’s hands.
...it’s not yet clear that they crossed the border, much less illegally, and the charge that they were convicted of is a secret.
...where did you get this idea that someone wants to send you to a camp?
They are libs. No crocodile tears from me.
