Your thermostat, your power use, will be monitored and controled in your very home. (But you can bet "some" people will still have their "office" thermostats set on 77...the controls are only for us little people.

Devices which rob the individual of choice and control are called “smart”? It’s like an in-joke for the statists.

What smart grid visionaries see coming are home thermostats and appliances that adjust automatically depending on the cost of power; where a water heater may get juice from a neighbor's rooftop solar panel; and where on a scorching hot day a plug-in hybrid electric car charges one minute and the next sends electricity back to the grid to help head off a brownout. What scott7278 sees is an Orwellian nightmare. You may be denied certain things for the "greater good."
- "___________ has been showering too long, based on his water heater usage. Shut him off and divert the electricity to Mrs. Jones."
- "There's no reason for _________ to have her thermostat at 72 degrees. Pump that up to 75, and since Mr. Smith is elderly, let's take him down to 72 degrees."
- "President Obama is coming through. We need as much power reserved as possible, in case of an emergency situation. Shut off everybody, except the very basic needs. No TV or computers are allowed. Set the maximum oven temperatures to 275 degrees - advise citizen-subjects that we are in 'warm only' mode."

It’s not about building new nuclear power plants, or something that would guarantee a steady supply of energy. It’s not about providing service. It’s about CONTROL, something this government seeks to enhance moment by moment.
I’m quite tired of this s—t!

I say let the earth keep spinning — the socialists, fascists, communists, and marxists need to get off.

This makes an off-grid setup look more and more attractive all the time. And people will find ways around the restrictions. It’s human nature.

I was thinking the same thing. Let these jackasses go pound sand.
Of course at some point they’ll demand access to your energy production.

Edison also envisioned an electric generator on every block; each generator would provide for a dozen or two houses. Even the ideas of smart people don’t end up working when translated from the drawing board into real life - what can we expect from the current batch of clowns running the show?
