Newsweek editor Evan Thomas brought adulation over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God."
Thomas, appearing on Hardball with Chris Matthews, was reacting to a preceding monologue in which Matthews praised Obama’s speech: "I think the President's speech yesterday was the reason we Americans elected him. It was grand. It was positive. Hopeful...But what I liked about the President's speech in Cairo was that it showed a complete humility...The question now is whether the President we elected and spoke for us so grandly yesterday can carry out the great vision he gave us and to the world."

I was at my daughters’ dentist office recently and flipped through two issues of the newly revamped newsweek wherein the editor and writers half-heartedly attempted to show a somewhat less liberal slant. I guess that didn’t sit too well with their masters.

Yeah. While history doesn't exactly repeat itself, it comes damn close. You know, you keep thinking to yourself, "No, they can't take it any further..." And then they do.
I think that at a subconscious level, people get it. That's why the unrelenting arming up. Deep down, they know that they're going to have to use it.
I think that I'm going to stand up and speak my mind this Fourth of July. I realized today that I've already written the short speech that I want to give here in CDA. Mostly, it's the front page of my business website.
This is what people need to hear. Plain talk about the naked, smirking, murderous evil that's overtaken us. PEople need to hear things called by their proper names. And a reminder that better men than us have given their lives so that we could live as free men and women. And that they would weep to see their sacrifice squandered so carelessly.
Someone ouhgt to start running Carter’s misery index on Obama each month or quarter. Give the wackos something real to weep about.
This reminds me of an unrelated point I've been meaning to make. Why do people like Obama pursue policies which any rational person should realize are highly detrimental to most of the country and to the social fabric?
One answer is that they are so partisan for their special interest groups that they don't mind messing up the general level of welfare so long as there's some advantage left to extract for their favored constituencies.
Ultimately, though, that fails and the society disintegrates if it is carried too far. And, I believe that Obama may be clever enough to see that. So I came up with another answer: Sssssatan's. "It is better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven."

I think it’s even simpler than that: They (and their favored constituencies) simply hate America. They are deliberately screwing things up in the hope that America’s influence will be reduced, making the world safe for dictatorship and socialism. They are doing the heavy lifting for the dictators and socialists of the world, which is why the rest of the world loves them. Of course, they will never admit that, and will do everything they can to disguise their motives, but that’s what it all amounts to.
And they can't even spread that shredded-tire playground cushioning around his throne because his enviropaths declared it hazardous.
