PRESIDENT OBAMA: This cycle of suspicion and discord must end.
I've come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based on mutual interests and mutual respect.
And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.
(APPLAUSE)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BRET BAIER, "SPECIAL REPORT" HOST: The president in Cairo. The White House billed this speech as a major address to the Muslims of the world. It lasted a little over 55 minutes, was 6,000 words. Words that you did not hear in the speech, "terror," "terrorist," or "terrorism," although the president did talk about the 9/11 attacks and a lot of other topics.
We have a lot to talk about. Let's bring in the panel, Steve Hayes, senior writer for "Weekly Standard," Mort Kondracke, executive editor of "Roll Call," and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer.
Charles, let's start with you.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER, SYNDICATED COLUMNIST: Well, the damage in policy was rather small. The damage to our position philosophically was large.
On policy, the damage was small because the speech was so abstract, vapid, and self-absorbed that it didn't touch a lot of policy, except on Iran, where he was exceedingly weak.
That was the weakest statement on Iran and nukes in at least eight or nine years by anyone in the West. It spoke about our demand that it not develop a nuclear weapon as a kind of a misunderstanding over a treaty.

In a bit of a surprise, David Horowitz liked it: http://www.frontpagemagazine.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=35117
Actually, I’m surprised how much Horowitz seems to like Obama. He like him so much that he pretends that the fraudulent COLB he posted is enough to prove he is a natural born citizen.
I like this guy Hayes has he replaced Barns? I sure hope so!
“Obama’s speech was an epic failure.”
Not according to the SRM. They slobbered all over him. Some called Obama a phophet. I heard a couple say that he has turned the whole ME issue around in one hour. The way the rest of the media made it sound, you would think AQ and Hamas would lay down their weapons and start singing Kumbaya with Obama.
>>Obama’s speech was an epic failure.<<
It was a HUGE “screw you” to Israel.
Barnes is unbearable. I’d rather listen to Juan Williams.
I just don't get his great oratorical skills. He uses the exact same cadence and inflection no matter what the topic. He never looks at his audience, just swings his head from side to side. I watched the Egypt speech on my DVR. After 10 minutes, I fast forwarded it. Try it sometime. His head flapping is amazing...like someone using a hula hoop on his head.
The Messiah has a way of saying a lot of nothing so it sounds really good.
As far as prepared speeches go, Bush blows Obama out of the water. As a matter of fact, Bush is quicker on his feet in non-teleprompted situations as well.
Thanks for posting this. I had planned to watch the 4 AM repeat this morning, and at 4:30 AM they cut to the O and Merkel live. #%%#&&$$!
Re#3 Didn’t know that.
Bush has great knowledge of history, his college major. Despite the DBM's description of him as "stupid" he is a voracious reader.
0 seems to have very little knowledge of history, especially the history of the USA. He is accustomed to saying whatever he wants, true or not, and having no one challenge him. Other heads of state saw through 0's lack of knowledge and experience at that first summit in London. Now we know he is lacking in manners appropriate for a head of state, as well.
