Beware! That folding knife in your pocket may turn you into a criminal if the Obama administration gets its way. Although there has been a lot of fear and speculation that the new administration wants to take your guns, the most pressing threat now is actually to your pocket knives. With the changing of the guard at U.S. Customs, that agency has now embarked on redefining "switchblades" under federal law to include a wide variety of one hand opening knives that never were intended to be prohibited. In fact, many of the knives U.S. Customs now seek to prohibit under the Federal Switchblade Law had not even been invented at the time of its enactment!
This new proposed U.S. Customs regulation is so broad that thousands of pocket knives will fall under its sweep and millions of knife owners will be affected. The problem is not simply that imports will be banned (which is bad enough), but that the "agency determination" will be used by domestic courts and law enforcement to determine what a "switchblade" is under both federal and state laws. Many states, including New Hampshire, fail to define switchblades and simply rely on the federal definition.

Sowell shocked me when he made such a fatalistic statement. IMO he’s always had a productive attitude despite circumstance. Still, days later, it gives me shivers that he said that.
Just look at it as stimulus for the knife makers and importers! Their sales will double overnight starting NOW!
Rainbow colors? That’s soooo gay....
I couldn’t find one with a unicorn on it.
Yes and the look on Glenn’s face when Mr.Sowell said that was a look of complete shock. He didn’t know what to say after Mr.Sowell’s blunt statement.
Sssshhhh! Don't give them any ideas!
If the Obama administration wasn't so dangerous, it would be down right comical.
Well said.
If anyone thinks I'm being disrespectful to our president ..... YER RIGHT !!!
I have nothing but contempt for this pompous fascist.

Didn’t want to get myself banned. However when the time comes I will do my part. I would rather die being an American like my parents before me then live the way this sob wants us to be.
I guess I won't be carrying it in my checked baggage when I travel! Good thing cheap Chinese copies are available... I can afford to lose a $4 copy, I can't afford to lose the $65 original!
Good. It's about time Americans returned to their "No King but Jesus" attitude toward Earthly power. This disgusting groveling and fawning at the feet of the most corrupt vertebrates in all of human history makes me puke.
God bless the rebels. God bless the individual.
(And thanks for serving brother - some of us know and appreciate so much that we make up for the dross who who don't ackknowledge).
Did you really think we want those laws observed? said Dr. Ferris. We want them to be broken. Youd better get it straight that its not a bunch of boy scouts youre up against... Were after power and we mean it... Theres no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there arent enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? Whats there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers and then you cash in on guilt. Now thats the system, Mr. Reardon, thats the game, and once you understand it, youll be much easier to deal with.
