A prominent New Mexico Republican complained Thursday about a sendoff party for Manny Aragon, a former Democratic legislative leader who reports to federal prison next week.
Pat Rogers, a New Mexico member of the Republican National Committee, said it was inappropriate to throw a party for Aragon, who faces a 5 1/2-year prison term after pleading guilty in an Albuquerque courthouse fraud scandal.
"It makes me sick," said Rogers, an Albuquerque attorney. "I can't believe there are people who are so stupid, brazen or whatever ... who would go to a party for a person who epitomizes corruption."

Among those attending the party: former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Gene Franchini and former Albuquerque state Sen. Les Houston.
Attorney Rogers said he's worried that there's apparently "a level of acceptance for this stuff" among some New Mexico civic and political leaders. I want to know what rock he's been under? NM politics has always operated that way and current Governor Bill Richardson is now the current example and is part of federal probe of pay-to-play allegations involving his administration.
New Mexico list PING!
another for the list
Forgot to mention his federal prison stint begins next Wednesday (June 10).
These days it's called the "Democrat Party."
Rapidly forming into the Fascist Party.
Manny’s going to jail?
Believe it.
Manny will still get his pension for ruining New Mexico Highlands, even as a convicted felon. Thanks to Bill, Manny is set for life after he gets out.
Manny's plea bargain doesn't have him pleading guilty to taking the money, whereabouts unknown, but that he 'talked' about it.

He evidently doesn’t get out much or read the papers too much. As an attorney you’d think he would have been more aware of what goes on in this state! I too thought the party was tacky and if it had to be held should have been very quiet and low key with no publicity.
I do feel much better. I was a bit worried there....especially as I knew I recognized the name but couldn’t place it!
How are you? LTNS
