Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll June 3rd
The Rasmussen Reports ^ | 6/3/2009 | The Rasmussen Reports

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 34% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Thirty-one percent (31%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +3 (see trends).

The President enjoyed a bounce in the polls last week after naming Judge Sonia Sotamayor as his first Supreme Court nominee. That bounce appears to have faded and the unpopular GM bailout may also be having an impact. New polling on Sotomayor will be released later today. New polling on GM will come tomorrow.

Voters now are evenly divided as to whether the President should push for health care reform now or wait until the economy is stronger. Among the President’s announced budget priorities, voters now put more emphasis on deficit cutting over health care reform.

Overall, 55% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far. Forty-four percent (44%) disapprove.

Back to 55/44 in the real poll, and the only one that any news organization would report, which is a slight improvement from our perspective.

“The President enjoyed a bounce in the polls last week after naming Judge Sonia Sotamayor as his first Supreme Court nominee”.

...pathetic. America is so full of idiots. That’s as insane as saying...uh...er...well that people approve of Sotamayor! I can’t think of a comparison that’s worse!

Weren't President Bush's numbers close to this? I know they always emphasized the negative with him, but this is only 1/3 of the country that strongly approves of That One. That's LESS than half, yet you don't see headlines that read "Less than half of Americans approve of the way Obama is doing his job as President."

Voters are dumb. The country can burn to the ground and I don’t care, as long as Wall Street gets what’s coming to them and I can go to the doctor for free. Honestly, this country has been so dumbed down, I don’t see a road of return.

The only thing the throng knows about Sotomayer is whatever John Stewart, Brian Williams and the NY Times have told them. Why wouldn’t they support her.

You have to add the “strongly approve” and the “somewhat approve” together to get a president’s overall approval rating. For rasmussenreports that figure for Obama is 55% overall approval and 44% overall disapproval which almost exactly mirrors the percentage of the vote that Obama and McCain received last November.
All this means that we are still in the Obama honeymoon phase which the American people give to every new President.
Finally, when President Bush was leaving office, his rasmussenreports Presidential Approval Index was minus 30 with just 13% strongly approving of Bush’s performance and 43% strongly disapproving.

I asked someone that voted for him if he had any regrets, yet and he told me No. In his case I’m sure it’s not crack. It might be whiskey.

55% if true, is a serious falloff for 0bama. He was over 65% 4 months ago. Don’t forget that his support base is mostly blacks and 18-25 year-old ‘counter-culture’ types. They typically don’t vote in high percentages. If the next election were held today, he would be vulnerable against a strong GOP nominee. He will need 52%+ to win in ‘12.
