Venezuela Chavez says "Comrade" Obama more left-wing

CARACAS, June 2 (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to take control of General Motors Corp.

During one of Chavez's customary lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the 100-year-old former symbol of American might.

"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live television broadcast.

During a decade in government, Chavez has nationalized most of Venezuela's key economic sectors, including multibillion dollar oil projects, often via joint ventures with the private sector that give the state a 60 percent controlling stake.

Obama has vowed to quickly sell off General Motors once the auto giant is back on its feet, but the government will initially control the company after a $30 billion injection of taxpayer funds.

Wow....Chavez more conservative than Obama.

We are living in the Land of Opposites where right is wrong and wrong is right and everything is all miscombobulated.

Ironic that this Muslim is a Muslib. Muslims do not believe in gay marriage, gays, health care, the environment, coexistence, or Ted Kennedy. They are not too fond of Communists either His Muslim roots must be at odds with his lieberal instincts.
No Muslim country in my estimation is communist or democratic, seeing as Turkey voted in religious fanatics recently.
B.Hussein the Muslib.

“”We shall buy you from within”

Actually it was “We will bury you””

Mea culpa typo. Thank you. (seems most read it as it was intended, but accuracy is always appreciated)

““We will destroy you from within, and we will start with the young people”. that was Kruschev in the 60s.”

Bury v destroy may be an interpretation of the translation.
My recollection of the news then is (and most still agree) BURY. (it’s a Kerry ‘seared into me’ thing)

I don’t actively recall the ‘start with the young people’ part, since that had probably already been established as a given. (I was still a Cub Scout fer Gods’ sake)

Your addition brings up History Repeating itself though, doesn’t it. Thank you.

“True, because many “historians” teach that the Cold War was solely a product of U.S. villainy.”

Historians are one thing, teachers are another. Sometimes, it was better to have lived through it. If the 60’s gave anything of import to remember it was ‘question everything’.
I know that it a bastardization of the term, but I think it applies.

It may not be fatal if we get his marxist ass out of power in 2012 and the GOP grows some balls ASAP.

I wish.

First oof all, I believe that we just had our last nominal free election in 2008, and the dims & acorn thugs will NEVER relinquish power of any branch of gubmint. We will now have soviet style elections or more recently Chavez style elections.

Secondly the GOP will never grow a pair of balls. As much as I hate & despise oboooooombashit, I wish that we had a conservative with half the balls & chutzah as oboooooombashit has.

We are so screwed.

Actually, I’m quoting my grandmother quoting Kruschev :D

My age was somewhere in the single digits at the time, but my memories of Kruschev are vivid, for some reason.

No reason needed, I too remember. (it could have been worse than that of our parents or theirs)

FIRSTABLE free US people should never have accepted and still tolerate such fake elections with so much irregularities during the electoral campaign, during the elections and from then on....It is a choice between FREEDOM/DIGNITY and TYRANY/SLAVERY and then decline...
History is not already written!

Well...I suppose it depends on how you defend leap. If you define socialism as nationalization of industries, Bush’s TARP was certainly the first major leap. The New Deal is better described as fascism e.g. more state control but continuing “private” ownership

I’m recalling my viewing of Niki at the UN as shown on the nightly news and reported in the daily newspapers.
