I pay $900 for a 3,000 s.f. house on an acre and a half, right next to a lake. Can't even hear traffic from here.

'course, I live in North Texas...

Howdy neighbor :) .... almost the exact same situation and space here.

College has become, for most, an enormous and very expensive scam. I do not expect college in its present form to survive another ten years.

You are wrong about this. Colleges don't teach much, but colleges are where a lot of people get married. College is where kids transition from living at home, to living on their own. College is where important networking takes place, like Hewlett-Packard, Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson (dallas cowboys owner and former coach), David Filo/Jerry Yang (Yahoo), Sergei Brin/Larry Paige (google), Bill and Hillary Clinton (yuck but true), William Rehnquist and Sandra O'Connor (Stanford Law classmates).

It is why everytime you see Michigan State in the final four, you see Magic Johnson in the stands. It is why you still see Tiger Woods wear a stanford hat.

Many low level colleges may be replaced, but the top 500 or so will always remain.

I hope you can find some land out in the country at a reasonable price.

Oh, it can be had out here. Especially if you get an hour away from Dallas. You wouldn't believe what can be had for the money.

Would you mind telling where in North Texas? Is it a suburb of Dallas?

Get north of Frisco and the prices plummet. Have a reliable car to get into the part of DFW you need to get to.

Seriously, the average age to have a first baby is hovering around 25 (and rising), so if you’re 22 when graduating— you do the math— how does that add to 38? Seems like baseline 47.

Uh, twenty years ago it was not 25. It helps to have the correct input BEFORE you do the math. Seriously.
