Top 10 Cities for New Grads
As Class of 2009 feels pinch, job searches expand
By Kate Lorenz, CareerBuilder.com editor

Nate Torvik has mixed feelings about his upcoming graduation from Purdue University. While there's relief that classes are over, exams have been taken and term papers turned in, what lies ahead is an extremely challenging and competitive job market.

"I feel like the wind has been taken out of my sails," says Torvik, who received a bachelor's degree in mass communication. "There is so much pride and happiness that comes with graduation, but as soon as I step off that stage at graduation, I become another statistic of the current miserable economy."

Torvik is one of thousands of soon-to-be college graduates thinking about relocating for work this spring. While choosing the best place to settle down can be a daunting decision, the current economic climate has raised the stakes.

Liberal Arts degree - ‘would you like fries with that?’

Journalism degree - ‘can I get you another coke?’

Psychology degree - ‘sign here for your welfare check, ma’am’.

History degree - ‘lift with your legs, not your back, dude’.

Teaching degree - ‘Obama is awesome, Unions are great, capitalism is evil, God has no place here’

Business degree - ‘Oh crap, everything’s going socialist, just my luck’

Science degree - ‘There is no god but Obama’

They are gonna get exactly what they voted for, and the ones that do manage to find good jobs in their fields are going to have their asses handed to them in taxes.

Reap the whirlwind you empty headed herd of sheep.

I have no sympathy.

College has become, for most, an enormous and very expensive scam.

I do not expect college in its present form to survive another ten years.

I think mass communications will be a booming industry what with all of the government propaganda that needs to be spewed out everyday to keep the dumb masses hoping for change.

The new grads will be screwed by their Messiah’s economic policies. However they will still blame Bush for their problems and credit the Messiah for good things.

Colleges are to education what unions are to labor. They are both fundraisers for the Democrat party.

The Obama administration is hiring.

You don’t have to have any experience or knowledge of jobs you would be doing either. Just look at the GM Tzar. :)

You might want to make friends with them. Before long, they may be the only ones with more coming in than going out.

Business degree - ‘Oh crap, everything’s going socialist, just my luck’

My busines professor colleagues are in denial about the impact of BHO's policies on business school enrollments. Most of my colleagues are strong BHO supporters. The future looks like government jobs or private businesses closely connected to government. Finance, the mainstay of business schools, is in disarray. When students do not get jobs, they will not enroll. Without reasonable enrollments, business schools will close making my colleagues unemployed. However, I doubt that they will blame BHO when they lose their jobs.

Wait till all these graduates find out there are 5 foreigners in line in front of them, that will work for 1990 wages.
