A new poll of the potential 2012 GOP primary field from CNN/Opinion Research Corp. shows a log jam of three candidates at the top. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, and current Alaska Governor Sarah Palin are in a statistical dead heat according to the survey conducted May 14-17 with a 4.5% margin of error:

Huckabee 22 Palin 21 Romney 21 Gingrich 13 Jeb Bush 6 Someone Else 10

In related news, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, who announced today he would not be seeking a third term, dodged questions today about running in 2012 while adding that he believes the GOP needs "new ideas and new faces."

Enjoy President Obama.

But don’t complain.

Yeah, the only one who adopted his anti-china policy. That is why. Like I said, he could have endorsed Mitt or McCain at that point, but was smart enough not to.

Even Suckabee?

I like Palin over Suckabee or Mormon Mitt.

Although I will say that much of the worship of her is a bit off-putting.

Sad for us.

With Gov. Sarah Palin in the mix? Hardly.

I would NEVER vote for Huck or Romney.

I hate to say this and I'm sure I will get flamed but....I like 99.9% of what Palin says but I can't stand the way she says it. She sounds like an idiot. She sounds as if she is just repeating slogans but has no idea what they really mean. When I hear her talk I picture a busybody Homeowner's Association President who gets her political ideas from her husband and then calls into Sean Hannity's radio program to discuss them with him and show off.

winces while waiting for the hate

TOO DAMN EARLY! Let's concentrate on 2010 first.

2012 will come in time. Let's NOT get ahead of ourselves.

"You gotta be kidding me...

No. I don't kid about psuedo-dictators. If you have someone else in mind, I'd love to hear it.

Here's some fact...

Obama raised more campaign money, by far, in the history of campaign money. By the time the next election rolls around, he might amass a war chest in excess of $1 billion.

Obama controls both houses in Congress by margins not seen since the 1940's.

Obama enjoys a grass-roots or field army that is unprecedented in American politics.

Obama has accomplished more of what he's attempted in the first 140 days of his Presidency than any other President, except for FDR again.

Obama now owns one of the biggest companies in America...

Should I go on?

none of those three can beat Barack Obama

I think Sarah would beat Obozo, if nominated by our side.

Sad for us. I don’t like any of em.

So, doesn't that make it sad for you; not neccessarily "us."

Some don't make me real happy either.

Actually I’d be happy with anybody that can win and do a good job.

That leaves out Huckabee.

Gingrich can’t win and JEB won’t run if Mitt’s in.

That leaves Mitt or Sarah, either of which is fine by me.

What’s Duncan doin’ this days? Havin’ lunch with Alan Keyes?

Steele and the rest of the good ole boy network ain’t gonna be happy about Palin’s numbers. Goodness only knows, we should get someone with conservative values who knows how important it is to balance a budget.

This poll feels about right to me, but the only one here that might draw excited crowds is Palin. Long way to go and 2012 might be an entirely different world.

Is the Mormon thing a problem?

Kinda sorta.

Do you understand the hierarchy of their beliefs?

They must submit to their "church".

I'd not like a President who had to submit to cultist laws.
