WASHINGTON, June 1 (Reuters) - Cases of the new H1N1 flu virus have been found in all 50 U.S. states and tests have confirmed the virus in more than 10,000 people across the nation, U.S. officials said on Monday.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said the confirmed tests represent about one in 20 of the actual number of infections, which would bring the total number of U.S. cases to around 200,000.
Seventeen deaths in the United States have been definitively linked to the swine flu virus, the CDC said.

This ‘’pandemic’’ won’t be cured till we have a total government control over health care /s
It’s beyond silly... I knew right out of the gate, a bunch of BULL... 35,000 Americans die annually of the “regular” flu...
17, eh? More people have probably died from pianos being dropped on their heads...
I stopped at a rest stop on I 40 in western Tennessee yesterday. “Swine flue” was written on the back glass of a car. I guess someone was trying to be funny.
Some how, I think the hysteria over this flu
and the 0bama election are ‘connected’ is some
loose interstitial way in the subconscious of
the zeitgeist. Go Lakers!
Right now it is not news, Janet Napolito (sp) was on this like white on rice before, but she was taking the heat off Air Force 1 and the photo op over New York...and we have a new HHS person, she is still reading first aid 101
“Seventeen deaths in the United States have been definitively linked to the swine flu virus, the CDC said.”
How many folks died in crosswalk accidents during the same period.
How about giving us a body count of those that were killed from abortion during this oh so horrible flu murdering rage.
How many billions did Obama spend on this “emergency”? How much of that went toward securing our borders?
Instead of having DHS and CDC working on this, wouldn’t it have cost less to have had that other government agency working the problem.... ACORN?
Next year it will be the Australian Rabbit Bat Flu.

I understand there was one death in Salem, OR. but I can’t find a news story about it yet.
“A Marion County woman with a confirmed case of swine flu died Sunday, the first Oregonian and 28th American to die of the infection, public health officials said Monday.”

36,000 people die every year in the US from flu. While this may be an accurate number, the ones who die are almost all sick elderly people, people on chemo, people with HIV, other immunodeficiency diseases, etc. or very young babies. They are not otherwise healthy people 20 to 45. No one has yet to publish the number of otherwise healthy people who die in the US every year from flu. From what I can tell, about 2000 to 3000 young people in that age group do die from flu/pneumonia in a typical year, but these are mostly not previously healthy people. That sure does put this into perspective, doesnt it? Why doesnt the CDC give out that number instead of the 36,000? 36,000 is meant for everyone who picks up that number to spout in their repertoire of ignorance. There is an abundance of repertoires of ignorance going around. And another thing about this 36,000 number (if you believe them see this article: http://tinyurl.com/davoy8 ) That number has already died this past flu season and whatever number die now will be in addition to those deaths. Will that number be double, triple, or more for this year?
WHOs flu chief Keiji Fukuda stated in recent interviews that approximately half the people who have died from H1N1 infection have been previously healthy people .
He said this was one of the observations which has given the Who the most concern.
