How nice of our Surfer Boy.

Whenever I see him on Fox (that delightful, cheery face), I stop and pay special attention. Part of it is the connection to Tony Snow, but it’s also because he is a sweetheart and fun to watch.

Save, this might be a good place to retell my favorite Jill Snow story. Tony came to Charlotte, NC in Feb. 2007 to give a political speech. [I chronicled this for
FReppers at the time.] After the speech, Tony headed out, but not before shaking hands with all who waited in line [and the line was long]. Some folks also wanted an autograph, others a photograph. Tony patiently accommodated all. I waited at the very end as I was going to walk out to the parking lot with Tony. As I waited, I noticed this very attractive lady doing Mom things. I asked her if she would like me to take a picture of her and her family with Tony. She politely declined with a Mona Lisa smile. It was only when Tony reached the end, and me, that I fully understood; Tony got a huge hug from his family.

That was how I first met Jill Snow!

I never met Tony but came to understand that he was a man amongst men. G-d bless Jill & the kids. I know that the Big Boss still chuckles when he sees Tony and remembers his comment that stopped Helen Thomas, cold.

Happy Birthday Tony! Count me as one who thinks of you often and imagines the conversations you are having with others who have passed on to peace. The world is one light dimmer for having lost you but the Heavens shine brighter than ever before.
