“Listen to all of you so concerned about what the left will say, what the media will report. Rules your day, runs your life, they have affected the way you live your life. Who cares what they say? Screw them.”
Well, that is a very interesting viewpoint. Personnally, I really don’t care what the “left” thinks, or the media EXCEPT that, unfortunately, they (the media) shape public thought. Also, public opinion has (or at least was) shifted towards a pro-life perspective. IF the unscrupulous in the media use one person’s vigilante act to paint pro-lifers as “terrorists, insurgents, or an American Taliban” they will do great harm.
Mr. Tiller rightly deserved the name “Tiller the Killer”, and quite frankly was deserving of death if justice was served. However, it would be a sad thing that the (improperly administered - meaning lawless) death(murder) of this vile person can be used as a propoganda tool by the forces that push abortion as correct. Abortion is murder....I don’t want it looking OK because someone used murder to stop an abortionist (however vile he may be).
Also, think of the other ripple effects. There will be those that will yell to disarm any conservative apposing legal abortion. We don’t need this type of distraction.
Thanks for posting this. This “group” is not pusing Christianity, they are pushing religious humanism.
Just as much as any other Luthern group. I've attended both ELCA, LCA (predecesor to ELCA) and LCMS Luthern services. I was married in a very traditional LCMS church, my wife's, and my older daughter was baptized in another one, but confirmed in an LCA church. Younger daughter was baptized in an LCA church, and confirmed in a LCMS church. Older daughter attends ELCA, formerly a Swedish Luthern Church. So I've seen both. The services differ little if at all. The theology is the same, as far as I could tell. The social policy is different. Still the ELCA/Swedish Lutheran pastor is every bit a good a man as the LCMS pastor who married us, and he was a very good man indeed.
The way the ELCA pastor is with the babies and young children, he does all the baptisms for example, rather than "sharing" with his two junior associate pastors, I can not imagine him condoning abortion, most especially late term abortion.
The Lutheran Churches are not top down, as the Catholic Church and some others are. So Congregations vary within each of the denominations, sometimes they vary a lot.
Be pretty funny if the guy turns out to be a Jew or Muslim, some of which, especially the Muslims, are very anti-abortion.
Of course some of y'all, perhaps different subgroups depending on which it was, might have a problem with that as well.
Here is the ECLA position on abortion
“Scuse me- Christ died to save us FROM our sin, not IN it. A real church would know this, not make the murderer an usher.
I did not “celebrate” his death nor did I say I approved. I do not. I simply said I do not feel sorry for him or his family. Big difference.
Tell you what. You keep playing defense, worrying about leftist commentary to such an extent that you are paralyzed. I’ll play offense and I hope our side will figure it out. We’ve been playing reaction/defensive/scared for three decades, and that formula is a big loser. Except of course for the wusses who are so afraid that some commie in the media might say something bad about them.
Please quit spamming threads.
Sorry I didn’t think that was spamming. Just trying to make a point. I’ll quit.
I do not cede to the left any right to hide just what it is that is being discussed.
Pictures like this - as ill as they may make some people personally, have had a very pronounced measure of success in changing the view of society as a whole in the last few years.
This battle is far too important to fight half heartedly.
You did not answer my questions.
You didn’t ask a question. You made a statement to which I disagreed. Still do.
Look, I am not condoning the actions of either man in this case. I did pose a question: “What sins have you repeated after repenting”? I do not want a direct answer, I just want us to think about it.
What child? Got a name?
The babies he killed were still in the womb or halfway out so they didn’t get names if that answers your thoughtful question.
