Sen. Cornyn shuns Limbaugh and Gingrich, calls it "terrible" to accuse Judge Sotomayor of racism

Sen. John Cornyn tonight repudiated the allegation that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is "racist" - and he distanced himself in no uncertain terms from the conservative opinion leaders who leveled that charge against the Supreme Court nominee, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"I think it's terrible. This is not the kind of tone that any of us want to set when it comes to performing our constitutional responsibilities of advice and consent," Cornyn told NPR's "All Things Considered." The racism allegation - and efforts to pressure Sotomayor to withdraw from consideration for the court - stem from Sotomayor's remark that as a Latina, she would bring a superior perspective to some cases than a white male judge.

Asked by NPR if he's worried that comments like Limbaugh and Gingrich's harm the confirmation debate, Cornyn said: "Neither one of these men are elected Republican officials. I just don't think it's appropriate and I certainly don't endorse it. I think it's wrong."

The interview offered a preview of Sunday's

Ask Frank Ricci if he thinks Sotomayor is a racist.

It’s time to bring this type of “new” racism to the forefront. The “old” racism brought about many legislative changes, such as affirmative action and other special consideration in granting economic advantages (ie. scholarships), based on historical subjugation.

Well, it’s getting to the point that whites and males, have also suffered “historical” subjugation, due to lack of opportunities based on their sex and skin color in this world of reverse racism. How many white males have lost educational and job opportunities while other less qualified people grabbed up all the benefits?

Examples also abound of reverse racism against Christians. Christian churches have had their political speech silenced, are being threatened with hate crime prosecution, and now even home Bible studies are under attack. Christian students have had their microphones silenced when they refer to God in their commencement addresses, and Christian parents have no say when public schools teach their children about the normalicy of homosexuality.

It’s time to look at the advantages given to those who suffered in the past and apply those same advantages to whites, males and Christians.

Or maybe, even better, let’s drop all this foolishness and really “judge people by the content of their character”.

Funny. The girly man has been making conservative noises of late. Looks like he’s shifting back to form.

If a white man had said the things Sotomayer has said, with the races reversed, everyone including Cornyn would be calling him a racist.

It is terrible to accuse most people of racism, when in fact they have shown none. But for one that HAS explicitly used race as a factor in judgment, it is not terrible to give the beast its name.

Some? Nice try minimizing it for her, you putzes at NPR, but her words say otherwise:

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,"

More often than not ain't some.

And lest I forget, STFU Cornyn!

Are you freakin’ kidding me?! She is racist.

Let's modify her now infamous quote:

I would hope that a wise < insert YOUR race here > with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Hispanic female who hasn’t lived that life.

If ANYONE on the Right had said this, there would have been a public lynching overseen by LULAC and the ACLU!

Or maybe, even better, let’s drop all this foolishness and really “judge people by the content of their character”.

Affirmative action has truly become an abomination.

It not only unfairly discriminates against males, whites, Asians and other "oppressive" groups...

It also discriminates against females, blacks, Latinos, native Americans and other "oppressed groups". Its very premise is that these groups are "inferior" and cannot succeed without being institutionally favored. Moreover, it serves to discount their legitimate achievements -- the presumption being that a successful black or Latino didn't earn their station, but were given it.

Finally, the concept of affirmative action, in itself, affirms a permanent greivance culture among minorities. It forgives failure.

What a poisonous and pernicious program this has become!

Yet, thanks to Sandra Day O'Connor, in Grutter v Bollinger (the Univ of Mich case), we are stuck with “diversity” -- and proportional representation has been officially decreed to be a "compelling state interest" for "another 25 years".

Indeed, it is a formula for enslaving everybody -- the majority to restricted opportunity, the minorities to lower expectations.

We just had our (Pennsylvania) primary for judges. Only republicans can vote for republicans and rats can only vote for rats. The republican judge who had the most votes was the one that the Pa. GOP went out of their way to not endorse.

The term is used as a weapon. You just have to shrug it off, otherwise they will stop you from doing anything. Fear of being branded as any sort of politically incorrect being has held the conservative movement back for far too long. It's time to stop pretending that people who work against us are simply friends who have a different opinion. They do not consider us as friends, I can guarantee that!

With Obama in office it will become very obvious that we are armpit deep in bonafide communists, not mere socialists, communists. They are popping out of the woodwork all over the place.

My younger kids go to a conservative Christian private school (7th-12th grade). Thus, their own peer group tends to be quite conservative, especially compared to where I was at that age. Their abstinence program really works. I teach some Women’s Bible Studies at our church, and at first was pleasantly surprised to learn that these girls really are virgins when they marry. That was quite a shock to a boomer like me.

Anyway, they have a scholarship program, and several kids from the urban community take advantage of it. Thus, we have ghetto kids mixed in with these conservative kids. I love going to the awards ceremony, because the ghetto kids really do just as well as the other kids once they get to the high school age. The transformation is amazing. These kids learn their hard work will pay off, and they are not running around with a chip on their shoulder expecting special privileges. When they enter college, they don’t need any affirmative action program. This is a model that works wonders. Once out of college, these upstanding moral well spoken kids have little problem finding work, and the poverty cycle is broken.

My point is that teaching young kids the truth at a young age is the ticket to get kids out of these welfare cycles. Like you said, affirmative action just breeds resentment. I’m for school vouchers.

When Cornyn came out for Spector, I sent him the following though he is not my Senator (Vitter is).

"Senator, I just went to your site, completed the form and was forced to pick a category as a condition precedent for submitting my comments. I picked Crime because you have no category for Principle.

Sen., you must be out of your f*kng mind to support Arlen Spector. That kind of crap is why the f*kng GOP has lost - you have become seekers of power, privilege and the status quo. This is not Principle, it is a Crime. The GOP will not get a dime or a vote from me. Indeed, I am meeting a lot of incensed people like me and you will lose for the next generation unless you prove immediately that you are different from the Democrats. They, the Dems, do not want to waste a crisis or surrender their petty personal ambitions to the apparently silly principles established by our Founding Fathers. It is sadly clear that you and your co-democrats (a/k/a RINOs) also only want power, not priciple and not adherence to the Constitution.

Long ago, I used to be a Democrat, moved for shcools to NYC (think Bella Abzurg era) and then Boston (remember Tip O'Neill and the sadly, still-living murderer Kennedy). I changed my affiliation to Republican. Recently, I switched to Independent (actually, to get rid of Dollar Bill Jefferson), but fools like you (and eunuchs like Spector) make it an easy decision, and offer me no reason, to change back.

That said, I tell you that the f*kng Republicans will be sitting on the back row until you die. Get a spine, some balls and, most importantly, some principles. You might as well clone and elect f*kng Collins or Snowe, who also are spineless and have no balls. You clowns think you can be Dems lite and we, who are repulsed by the Dems/Socialists, will be driven to you by default. Think again, cap."

Republicans in the Senate should have the food and water tested in the Hart Senate Office Building eateries.
It’s painfully obvious that it’s being spiked with estrogen.
Which turns their spines to jello.
And causes a yellow stripe to form.
It’s apparent that only a small number of Republican Senators, like Jim DeMint and Pat Roberts, don’t partake.
