(Davis in his editorial)I began having second thoughts about last week's column urging the indictment of former Vice President Dick Cheney for approving the use of water boarding and other forms of illegal torture, shortly after it was published and posted last Monday morning - days before the Obama-Cheney back-to-back speeches Thursday.

Ok, go ahead and pardon them. But, when Obama pardons them, he must announce what his exact approach would have been in identical circumstances.
Ping
I hope they do indict Cheney, Bush, Rummy, Ashcroft, etc.
Lets bring this to a head. I am ready to go....Lock and Load.
What’s Lanny afraid that Bammie is doing behind closed doors?
I think instead VP Cheney should bbe hailed as a hero along with President Bush for keeping us safe. Those 3 terrorists were lucky not to have been quickly tried and executed.
Giving Cheney a preemptive pardon is brilliant from the a political perspective. Its kind like the backhanded insult when someone says “I forgive you” and you haven’t done anything wrong. It would make Cheney appear guilty as sin without actually charging him with anything. At the same time, it would make Obama seem magnanimous to Independents (Lefties would scream bloody murder, but where are they gonna go?). If Obama tries this, Cheney should tell him to take his pardon and shove it.
Hasn’t President Obama reserved the right to use the same techniques under similar circumstances?

Pardon this, maggot.
You are cracking me up
Davis claims emails woke him to the problems that surround indicting a former vice president. Sure they did. The problems associated with such an action are evident to all. I’ve never needed an email (or anyone telling me) what would ensue.
This is a straw dog for the idea of a pardon without a conviction. Davis (and likely other liberal idiots) probably believes the American public would absorb such a meaningless act and go on their merry way. For many Americans, that’s probably true.
What’s behind this? Most likely, they see the box they’ve built for themselves on this issue. What happened wasn’t illegal. Many Democrats were aware of the process and the legality. If Cheney, or any other past administration official were to be indicted, then the lid would be off the henhouse. This they can’t afford. So, why not come up with an idea that points guilt toward Cheney without the benefit of a trial, and still allows him to walk away from the issue?
These people are nothing if not vile, sick, evil dirtbags.
Pardon them for what? The techniques were deemed legal by the Justice Dept!
Ok, that is just my favorite post ever!!! Woohoo!!!
Just wisht W hadda said it.
Obama will never, ever, ever use waterboarding.
Obama has retained the right to waterboard under exeptional conditions.
Do we really know which of these is the truth?
Awww....he’s so cute!
(So’s Barney...LOLOL)
The problem with a Pardon is it implies guilt... and to accept it (does one need to accept a pardon??) would be to admit one was guilty of some violation.
I repeat, if Davis really thinks this pardon is a good strategy, he must, MUST, demand that Obama define what his strategy would have been under the same set of circumstances. I am sick and tired of libs being allowed to be Monday morning quarterbacks without being asked what their game-plan would have been.
“and other forms of illegal torture.” such as?
Pardoning someone who hasn’t been convicted of anything is the same as holding a kangaroo court and finding that person guilty.
I assume Lanny Davis talks to someone at the White House.
