An interesting battle is taking shape in Texas, long a stronghold for conservatives. Changing demographics and popular Democrats with deep pockets are going to make holding the seat of departing Kay Bailey Hutchison difficult. Losing another vote in the Senate, particularly from red state Texas, could be disastrous.

We have decided to go ahead and get on the bandwagon of candidates that are in important races (seats currently held by Dems or troubled conservatives).
As a brief history of our success at reaching people, we started the blog American Sentinel (now defunct due to trademark issues) last year and had received almost half a million UNIQUE visits in our first six months. Obviously, we're having to start over with Annuit Coeptis and a generally unengaged public following last year's contentious elections, but we are setting what we think will be a very attainable goal of getting in about 10,000 uniques a day by the end of summer (nothing like good ol' Free Republic, but we're trying hard to be relevant and make a difference).
We think this can be used for tremendous good in helping to locate and support candidates in 2010 and help take America back. Unlike other organizations that have set up similar (and in my mind shady) operations, we aren't taking any donations for candidates, but are directing people directly to the candidates' pages.
Anyone having a candidate they would like for us to consider, please send a message to my inbox or include them in a comment here. A little history and reasoning behind your support would be helpful.
Michael Williams for U.S. Senate
The problem, as I see it, is not so much in the choices available to Republicans, but in the Democrat machine which is already in full force in Texas over this battle. They have Republicans out-raised 9 to 1 so far.
Truth be told, I’d rather see Commissioner Williams as Governor, but we definitely have a decided lack of leadership in the Senate.
He would be a 100x improvement over the current governor.
Best thing would be for Hutchison to resign now so Perry can appoint Williams to the seat.
This guy is the right guy for the job.
If you have not done it, go to his web-site and read the issues page.
If he talks have as well as he writes and enough conservative and republicans get behind him, he has a long career in politics ahead of him.
He needs our support.
I saw him speak at a campaign event I was at a few months ago. I think he’ll be a strong candidate. His meme is to be a ‘consistent conservative’ and we and there is no doubt that we are in dire need of some consistency.
Feel free to look over my website in the tagline and you can send me questions here or at the comment section on my site.

TEXAS Conservative.
That might not be such a good thing. We don’t want the new senator to have Roland Burris Syndrome.
Not a concern. This is NOT somebody new to politics - or conservatism.
This is Texas, not Illinois. Williams isn’t a hack, he’s probably one of our most articulate and optimistic Conservatives out there today. One reason I’d like to see him as Governor would give him a chance to demonstrate that he is potentially Presidential material.
Good to hear. What I meant was, as much as we need Conservative leadership, it’s best for Williams not to have his name linked to Perry.
Hey, I love that speech you gave at the Tea Party. Great stuff. We may have to endorse : )
I don’t know anything about the Texas 17th district at this point, but you seem like a good place to start learning.
Perry’s certainly not perfect (well maybe his hair), but he’s a damn fur piece from being as bad as many Gov’s we have suffered with and is nothing like IL’s Blogo.
I am told that Williams spoke at the Austin Tea Party and pretty well WOW’d the crowd.
He is my choice for Senator — love the guy and would have a real conservative.
The 17th is Chet Edwards’ soon-to-be former district. It is the most conservative seat in the nation with a liberal democrat in office. In the last election, he outspent his Republican rival 2.04 MILLION to 109 THOUSAND - 19:1 and won by 19k votes, out of 250k cast: 134,000 to 116,000.
Edwards is a professional pol, but remains very vulnerable in this district.
Me? I’m an Critical Care RN, Aggie grad (The district includes Texas A&M Univ), US Navy Vet, and very conservative. I am THE most conservative and most enthusiastic candidate in the primary and that’s a marker that I’ve boldly thrown down for anybody to match.
Plus, I’m a FReeper.
Our gov’t is critically ill. It needs the skill and care of a Critical Care RN - plus, the home remedy of some good old fashion TEXAS Conservatism.
