WASHINGTON — Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he's still a Republican, but the party needs to change and be more inclusive.

Powell is a moderate Republican who says he endorsed Democrat Barack Obama over Republican John McCain for president because he thought Obama was the better candidate.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney and radio personality Rush Limbaugh have openly mocked Powell's political leanings – questioning whether he still is in the GOP.

Vote for the other guy.

Nothing more bipartisan than that huh?

If it wasn't sad, it would be funny.

“but the party needs to change and be more inclusive.”

He’s absolutely right. We need to change back to what we were in the 80’s and include anyone who agrees with our principles.

Good Luck, GoP. You’re gonna need it.

"Powell describes himself as having a long, solid record of voting for Republicans. But he says he did vote for Democrats John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter. "

And 0zer0. Powell don't know the GOP.

We would LOVE to include people that voted Democratic last election to vote Republican in 2010, but not “Democrats” that “Endorse” the Opponent and ask Republicans to vote Democratic.

That would be like Colin Powell, Stupid.

I don't LIKE Powell's view of conservatism or republicanism. He isn't a conservative and CERTAINLY is not a Republican.

He IS, however, a democrat. No doubt.

From CBS.com: “I am still a Republican. I’d like to point out that in the course of my 50 years of voting for presidents, I have voted for the person i thought was best qualified at that time to lead the nation. Last year I thought it was President-now Barack Obama,” Powell said.

Powell also addressed criticism from conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, saying his assertion that Powell only voted for President Obama because “he is black” was “unfortunate.”

We don’t need luck, we just Kicked Powell to the curb, and California kicked the Governator and his Democratic Legislature to the curb, followed by California throwing new Taxes under the Train....the Bus wasn’t Big enough to run over the Tax increase.

That was a “VOTE” in California, NOT a POLL, and it was a Landslide that is the envy of the Democrats.

I love it how this douchebag continues to go and say the SAME thing and deride the party yet hasn’t lifted a finger or stated in any clear concise way of how he’d would change it. And yet no one in the media is calling him on his non informative canned responses.

Colin Powell is a liar and a coward. He sabotaged Pres. Bush whenever he could, leaked to the NYT whenever he could, kept his mouth shut while Libby was being raked over the coals, and is a DNC waterboy.

That no-combat affirmative action RINO is still a Republican? Didn’t he endorse socialist Obama over veteran and POW McCain?

Powell is a moderate Republican who says he endorsed Democrat Barack Obama over Republican John McCain for president because he thought Obama was the better candidate.

Did they bother to ask Powell why he thought Obama was the better candidate? Quite a sweeping statement to be left with no elaboration and no follow up questions. But typical of our non-investigative, non-curious, in-the-tank for Obama MSM.

Stop lying Powell, you voted for Obama 100% due to skin tone. If Powell is a Republican, then so is Jesse Jackson.

Powell says that by moving to the right, the GOP risks losing right-of-center Republicans to Democratic and independent parties.

Wrong.

If the Republicans moved to the right, they would give voters a clear choice based on principle. The choice now seems to be between socialism and mostly socialism. Why even drink decaffeinated coffee, lite beer, or skim milk if you can have the real thing?

Powell’s vision of the Republican Party is essentially a moderate version (just slightly left) of the Democratic Party. So what’s the point? Why even have two parties? Just combine them and be done with all the pretense.

Call the new party, the “Republicrats” or the “Demicans”.
