What if you gave it a name like "Shining Sands" or "Ocean Breeze" instead of ... Gitmo?
The prison center at Guantanamo Bay is destined to be closed down in January because "the name itself is a condemnation" of U.S. anti-terrorism strategy, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday.
But while it has become a "taint" on America's reputation, according to Gates, the prison facility in Cuba is at the same time "probably one of the finest prisons in the world today," he said Friday on NBC's "Today" show.
So could Gitmo be saved with a drastic rebranding effort? If you give it a new name and increased transparency, some marketing and public relations experts say yes.

The Liberals already re-branded it.
The issue is how to un-brand it.

Why can’t it get a corporate sponsor for it, just like all the football stadiums?
“The AT&T Prison at Guantanamo” kind of has a nice ring to it.

The only reason it’s a “taint” is because the media made it so.

Whoops! I forgot about Jerry Della Femina who working for an advertising agency, was sitting in a meeting trying to come up with an advertising slogan for the then new Japanese electronic manufacturer, SONY. As the hour grew late, he suggested: “how about from those fabulous people who brought you Pearl Harbor.”

“By the way, if anyone here is in advertising or marketing, kill yourself. Thank you, thank you. Just a little thought. I'm just trying to plant seeds. Maybe one day they'll take root. I don't know. You try. You do what you can. Kill yourselves. Seriously though, if you are, do. No really, there's no rationalization for what you do, and you are Satan's little helpers, OK? Kill yourselves, seriously. You're the ruiner of all things good. Seriously, no, this is not a joke. “There's gonna be a joke coming...” There's no #$@!*&%+ joke coming, you are Satan's spawn, filling the world with bile and garbage, you are #!*%#@ and you are #$@!%*! us, kill yourselves, it's the only way to save your *&^%$#@! soul. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show.
“You know what Bill's doing now, he's going for the righteous indignation dollar, that's a big dollar, a lot of people are feeling that indignation, we've done research, huge market. He's doing a good thing.” Dammit, I'm not doing that, you scumbags, quit putting a damn dollar sign on every *+&$!@# thing on this planet!”

What is wrong with taking a few million in stimulus money and building a new prison at Fort Jefferson (Dry Tortuga).
I fine vacation spot with sun and white sand beaches. Far from anyone in the Gulf of Mexico.

Name it after a Kennedy and, in so doing, force the libtards to defend its image. History will re-write itself instantaneously.
“The Kennedy Bay Of Pigs Detention & Rehabilitation Center of Cuba has always been our finest, most humane facility. The standard of care employed at this facility is a champion of progressive policies in action.”
Soon, the libtards will be giving tours of the facility to promote it as the premier example of how detention centers should be managed. It will become the defacto international standard overnight.
It was always so.
