Schieffer: Cheney’s Winning
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/22/2009 4:59:39 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Bob Schieffer’s first instinct was to act like a T-ball coach and give everyone a medal. But the avuncular Face The Nation host ultimately scored Dick Cheney the winner over PBO in yesterday’s dueling national security speeches.

Schieffer made his admission on this morning’s Early Show.

HARRY SMITH: This was a debate in every possible way, except it was not face-to-face. Is it possible to say which case was more compelling?

Obama should try very hard in the future to prevent anybody from contrasting him against Dick Cheney, side by side. Obama suffers greatly from the comparison.

This morning Fox&Friends ran a clip from The Daily Show (Comedy Central). It showed Obama almost plagiarizing Bush, as Obama used the same phrases that GW did in previous speeches. It was hilarous to watch.

Yep, Team Obama screwed the pooch by their poor planning.

Their poor planning goes back to making a huge announcement about closing Gitmo and then releasing the so-called "torture" memoes... unless of course their real intent was to reign in Nancy Pelosi and expose her as the fool she is. I'd like to believe that but know Obama's team isn't anywhere near as smart as they tell everyone they are. Now they've created a box for themselves. They are forced to take the position that a place like Gitmo is necessary but because they themselves demogogued it and turned it into an internation symbol to win an election Gitmo itself has to be closed... and reconstructed somewhere inside the US... where it won't again become an interrnational symbol? Hah! What a bunch of bumbling idiots.

Just an observation: I think Cheney understands Obama and is attacking his thin, narcissistic skin.

Cheney's positions are well thought out and are based on a deep well of experience in important jobs.

On the other hand, Obama is an empty suit from the Chicago political machine. The picture on Drudge yesterday of Obama's face bracketed by the teleprompter was priceless.

I’ve been watching a lot of people comment about PBO’s perpetual lateness when he is giving a presser. I have to agree that it’s really disrespectful to the American public and shows poorly on his character (like we needed any more confirmation of that).

He’s like the penultimate absent father, but in this case it is of the whole nation and he has at least as strong of a role to play in everyone’s lives if he chose to actually lead!

RE: Cheney is Winning

Gee, I wonder why.

Headline?

Obama: Torture has no place in fighting terrorism
Obama: AMERICAN LIVES NOT WORTH SAVING
The cost to our values too great, says President

Even Schieffer says Cheney won ...

This was such a rout that the MSM cheerleaders can't find any way to deny it.

Obama to unbiased observers must come off as a slimy liar as well as a pompous ass. He can’t help turning on the campaign mode every time he gives a speech. But he aint running anymore, and the smears are getting tiresome. In short, he looks like the naive, arrogant, ignorant fool he is. Even his accomplices in the media (Schieffer) know it and are getting nervous.

There is no way Cheney would have won in 2008. The Obama team’s mantra was “Bush, Bush, Bush” and that is really how they won.

I do believe Cheney would have a chance in 2012 after this debacle of an Obama presidency.

It is simple.

Cheney is a Winner!

Eventually, Obozo will be a Looser.

Team Obama screwed the pooch by their poor planning.

You are exactly right. Close your eyes and imagine the screaming going on inside the WH right now as the blame game is being played. Probably something similar to the infamous Hitler video parody with his generals Hitler video Dallas Cowboy version (I know the Hitler comparisons are tired but it is believable that 0_bama yelling at his staff about this blunder wouldn't be too dissimilar from this).

I saw a snippet of a Q&A session at the White House after the speech, and a reporter actually dared to say, “Obama says that the time for finger pointing is past, but then proceeds to point fingers at the Bush Administration.” Is it Robert Gibbs who is the press secretary? (not enough coffee this a.m. yet) Anyway he wanted to reporter to look back through his notes to see what he was talking about, and then started to try to explain. I guess it was one of those “What he meant to say was...” moments.

Liz or Lynne? Maybe so.

Dick? No way. If he's not already suffering from end stage cardiomyopathy, then the rigors of campaigning would put him into that status for sure.

Really too bad for the USA that the VP's heart is in such poor condition. But that's just the way the cookie sometimes crumbles.

Obama usually speaks in front of like minded souls, either a cherry picked audience, or fawing press, who echo his beliefs. But to choose a literal echo chamber, only Obama who must love to hear himself, would do that.

It really is a shame that VP Cheney didn’t want to run for President in 2008. He would have wiped 0bama with truth and great speeches.

Two problems with that.

First, Cheney would have had to survive the incredibly idiotic, two-year long, primary campaign.

And second, the MSM hates Cheney so much that he'd never get his great speeches on the air at all without piles of media opinion to "refute" every point.

Cheney is NOT the man you want to mess with:

My guess is "Death by Segway" is one of the worst ways to depart this Earth, reserved for only the worst of his political enemies...
