AUGUSTA, Maine — The Maine Human Rights Commission says a restaurant discriminated against a transgender woman by asking her to use the men’s room until she had sex reassignment surgery.

The manager of a Denny’s restaurant in Auburn made the request of Brianna Freeman of Lewiston after a female customer complained of having to share a restroom with "a man." Chad Cloutier, a lawyer representing the restaurant, says the woman threatened to call police.

So, now people who have surgery so they can pretend to be a member of a gender, have the ‘right’ to use any restroom the care to use?

Southpark addressed this issue nicely with an episode where Stan’s dad wanted to be a Dolphin. He had surgery to glue his legs together, got a face job to give him a snout and a blow hole - then demanded that everyone cater to his ‘Dolphin-Friendly’ demands. Among them, Dolphin-friendly cars, restooms, grocery stores ect.

Sorry, if you are not born with a penis - you are not a man. Whether you are fertile or not is immaterial. No uterous, no ovaries - you are not a woman. Now, if you want to ‘pretend’ that you are something you are not - I don’t see why my right to use the bathroom with members of my gender should be sacrificed on their “let’s pretend” personal issues.

That is so "duh" that it's funny. The whole purpose of the sign on the door that says "MEN" and "WOMEN" is to discriminate against the opposite gender. Without discrimination it would be free-for-all in the restroom. If those suffering from gender disorders are excused from complying, then those without gender disorders are targeted for discrimination because they aren't allowed to join in the free-for-all. It's just another ridiculous individual thinking the world owes *him* something special.

We got into this mess when we took away property owner’s rights. It is the restaurant owner’s right to decide restroom policy PERIOD Don’t like go else where or go home and whine. Once you make “discrimination” against the law you come to this.

the only way I can see to rationally address this is to designate restrooms based on sex chromosomes, e.g XX and XY.

Tit for tat. I’ve been in a men’s room more than once to have a woman come in and enter a stall without a second glance. The line at the women’s room is always longer during peak times than the men’s.
