LifeNews.com Note: Bradley Mattes is the executive director of Life Issues Institute, a national pro-life educational group. Mattes is a veteran of the pro-life cause, with over 33 years of educational, political and humanitarian experience.
The controversy surrounding President Obama and Notre Dame University culminated with his speech Sunday in Indiana. I had returned from Washington, DC just in time to drop my bag and tune in to watch the address.
His most pronounced message -- certainly the one emphasized by the media -- was that we shouldn't demonize those who disagree with us on abortion. I couldn't agree more, but wonder why the President doesn't follow his own advice.
Certainly his memory isn't that short. Only a few weeks ago his administration released a memo cautioning against rightwing extremists. In the crosshairs of its inflammatory remarks were pro-lifers.
How can the President claim verbal high ground in the abortion debate when his administration is demonizing individuals as domestic rightwing terrorists when theyin the words of the memoare dedicated to [an] opposition to abortion?
The President also said that those who speak out against [embryonic] stem cell research may be rooted in an admirable conviction about the sacredness of life, but so are the parents of a child with juvenile [type 1] diabetes who are convinced that their sons or daughters hardships can be relieved.
Mr. President, allow me to speak from experience here.
Last year my son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It literally turned his world upside down. But neither he nor his parents would advocate killing human embryos to pursue an experimental cure. The difference between us and you, Mr. President, is we are living our expressed belief that innocent human life is sacred.
The president lamented the fact that the strong too often dominate the weak, but thats exactly what abortion does. The strong not only dominates the weakthey kill them.
Mr. Obama made a clarion call to work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions, while at the same time he aggressively uses his powerful position to expand the number of abortions being done in America and around the world.
Words have meaning Mr. President.
You can't reduce the number of abortions while funding the expansion of abortion with our tax dollars by abandoning the Mexico City Policy and funding the UN Population Fund which supports forced abortion in China.
Filling your staff, Mr. President, with hard-core, pro-abortion advocates from Emilys List, the National Abortion Rights Action League and Planned Parenthood isn't the way to find common ground with those who respect life.
Further, your support of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA), which would wipe out any law that protects unborn children and their motherssuch as parental consent, partial-birth abortion or tax funding of abortion-on-demandleaves no room for even the tiniest compromise.
Words have meaning. Mr. Obama is called the most pro-abortion president in the history of our nation for good reason. During his first months in office he has aggressively pursued a pro-abortion agenda. These are undisputable glaring facts. Whether or not Americans pay attention remains to be seen. I pray you will.
As for Notre Dame University, its tragic that so-called friends of unborn babies would give Mr. Obama such a visible platform to promote his deadly agenda.

EXACTLY! If Zero truly wants to reduce the number of abortions, he has the power to start reducing the number TODAY.

When it comes to biological sciences there seems to be no bottom to the depths of ignorance Obama's mind contains.
People really gotta' start forgetting about this guy being able to have an "intent" ~ he can't. Just a thug in a suit.
That way you can understand his belief that a woman who wanted an abortion was entitled to a dead baby, so if the kid managed to survive the abortion, then he should be killed.
It's the "dead kid" part that he thinks its about ~ not the absence of pregnancy. You just have to be an almost total ignoramous regarding the human reproductive cycle to come up with his arguments.

If Zero truly wants to reduce the number of abortions, he has the power to start reducing the number TODAY.I would love it if all abortions were illegal, but does the President really have this power? How would he do it? I'm just not sure how this would work in light of Roe v. Wade.

Obama is simply an Acolyte of the ONE AND ONLY Beast that crawls out of the pit.
He is incapable of having an intent ~ on the other hand, that's part and parcel of his ability to do evil.
What he does know isn't of any benefit to anyone, and what he doesn't know fills vast voids of nothingness.
There are many people like that.

Obama says he supports finding a "middle ground" on abortion.
Yet, in reality, the only landscape he supports is a FREE-FIRE ZONE, where pre-born humans are the unlucky targets of the folks with the weapons.

Now that Obamas administration is in its second trimester, people are seeing more clearly what it is developing into.
He calls waterboarding torture but thinks Partial Birth Abortion is a fine choice. Not to mention his specific defense of murdering fully born babies that survive abortions. He defended that 3 times over three different IL legislative sessions.
Every Obozo appointee is a rabid Pro-Abort demon, but he wants everyone to remain open minded on the issue of abortion. Sure he does.
America didnt elect a president it elected a Marxist Monster.

The people who voted for Obama lack the intelligence to know the difference between truth or a lie.

Obama used executive power to rescind the Mexico City policy, which barred using US foreign aid money to fund organizations which perform or advocate abortions, and to free up U.S. payments to the United nation Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) which, among other ugly things, cooerates with China's mandatory One Child Policy and thus facilitatoes coercive sterilizations and abortions.
Thus he could use executive power (immediately, as far as I know) to reverse himself, restore the Mexico City policy, and stop US payments to UNFPA.
He could also direct HHS to enforce the provisions protecting the ethical concerns of healthcare providers in the Church Amendment and the Hyde-Weldon Conscience Amendment. Obama suspecded enforcement of these provisions as one of his first executive acts as president.
Here's a little background:

What Obama Believes re Aborted Babies Born Alive FR POSTED http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2253212/posts?page=6
In February 2004, US Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.
Michelle Obama called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure. " She urged supporters to pay $150 to attend a fund-raising luncheon for her husband, who she promised would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it.
BACKGROUND Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002.
But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. Obama worried aloud that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights.
In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics.
BAIPA passed in 2005.........after Obama left.
