Seymour Hersh says that Dick Cheney headed a secret assassination wing and the head of the wing has just been named as the new commander in Afghanistan.
Hersh said that there is a special unit called the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) that does high-value targeting of men that are known to be involved in anti-American activities, or are believed to be planning such activities.
According to Hersh, the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) was headed by former US vice president Dick Cheney and the former head of JSOC, Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal who has just been named the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan.
Most of what General McChrystal has done over a 33-year career remains classified, including service between 2003 and 2008 as commander of the Joint Special Operations Command, an elite unit so clandestine that the Pentagon for years refused to acknowledge its existence.
On July 22, 2006, Human Rights Watch issued a report titled "No blood, no foul" about American torture practices at three facilities in Iraq. One of them was Camp Nama, which was operated by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), under the direction of then Major General Stanley McChrystal.
McChrystal was officially based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, but he was a frequent visitor to Camp Nama and other Special Forces bases in Iraq and Afghanistan where forces under his command were based.
The decision by Obama's administration to appoint General McChrystal as the new commander in charge of the war in Afghanistan and retaining the military commission for the US war-on-terror detainees held in the Guantanamo Bay prison are the latest examples of the new US administration walking in Bush's foot steps with regards to torture and denial of habeas corpus.

If you add Sy Hersh to the Pelosi, Reid, Bin Laden and two bullets joke, the punch line would be: Pelosi, still shot twice, Reid and Bin Laden, still strangled; no trace ever found of Hersh.
JSOC does exist, and has existed since 1980 in one form or another. It got a big boost when the 1986 Goldwater-Nichols act provided that Special Operations got their own budget, and various units no longer had to rely on their parent services for funding.
To say that many of it's operations are classified would be the same as saying that the sun rises in the East, yet the organisation itself is well known.
Hersh's claims have been debunked. JSOC is accountable to both the SEC DEF and Congress. If any of the nonsense was going on, you can bet the farm that the more liberal members of congress would have long ago publically blown the whistle on JSOC actions.
This is good news but I guess ‘ll never understand why any grown up would be shocked to learn that a professional soldier knows how to kill and can be relied upon to kill the enemy.
He is right about this. What do you think the Seals, Australian SF and others have been doing? Also..did you read “Sole Survivor”. They were a assination team going after a high level Taliban. This is no real secret. The drones in Pakistan are on the same mission. Behead the enemy.

Seymour Hersh and Human Rights Watch, two fonts of truth and integrity /sarc. No one denies the existance of JSOC, although they certainly do not advertise their activities. What they do is kill the enemies of the United States. Experience has shown that when these people cease to be, they are incapable of killing American soldiers or attacking the U.S.
They are very good at their assigned mission, which no doubt upsets Mr. Hersh to no end. Slime like him will do everything in their power to help destroy America.

Are you an Alinsky follower? IF you recall it was US that stopped the 'final solution'. I know because my nobody uncle landed on the beaches of Normandy and had his brains exposed from shrapnel. He got a steel plate to keep his brains in and went on to the Battle of the Bulge. Seems to me there is NO appreciation for what Americans have done in blood and treasury for stopping lunatics like Hitler. Excuse me. You are the one who thinks that having Lithuanian Jewish ancestry is relevant. Lithuanian Jews were largely Orthodox. Of the few who survived the Holocaust, many of their descendants live in Israel and others live in the U.S. None are in Lithuania. I am not an Alinsky follower, but I call out ugly comments when I see them.
