"Catholics are often liberal and conservative at the same time. It's hard to pigeon-hole us."
Jerry Kellman speaks as an example. He's Catholic and opposed to abortion. But he says President Obama does not deserve the heat he's getting for his speech at Notre Dame.
"The church, above all institutions is committed to dialog and reconciliation. So if we're not willing to take the recommendation of the graduating class of Notre Dame University -- some of our finest young men and women -- then I think we're out of step with our own values."
Kellman knows the President better than most. He put a young Barack Obama to work in Chicago -- as a community organizer on the city's south side.
Today -- he has faith Obama will craft policy that reduces the number of abortions.
A feeling shared by the author of "The Catholic Case for Obama" -- Patrick Whelan.
"I think the democrats have increasingly taken a view if we can enact certain social programs, if can grapple with this from a public health standpoint, we can have a more dramatic impact on the abortion problem."
Whelan and Kellman say conservative catholic bishops run the risk of driving away churchgoers.
Both men would rather see church leaders work with President Obama in the places where there's agreement.
And then challenge him to do the most good in the places where they differ.
"I would hope Cardinal George is committed to finding common ground within the church, common ground within the country and common ground around the world. If we can't find that common ground, I think we're all in trouble." Kellman added.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
Ping.
Just in case you missed that sentence.
Except when confronting intrinsic evil. Then opposition is unequivocal and expected.
Catholics are often liberal and conservative at the same time. It’s hard to pigeon-hole us
“Liberal and conservative” at the same time eh? Isn’t that codeword for “cafeteria Catholic”?
If the Churchgoer is driven away by a
clear teaching of the
Catholic Church over 1700 years,
and well known to any Catholic who has been
accepted into the grace of Communion
what does that say about the “Churchgoer”?
Kellman enjoys keeping his cake just as much as he enjoys eating it.
What Cathholic support? Obama has none. Period.
Jerry Kellman was the protege of Saul Alinsky..
Jerry Kellman was the protege of Saul Alinsky..
That would explain this horseshit. Because nothing else does.
Fox News seems to have been taken in by this flaming leftist. I figure he’s about as pro-life as Doug Kmiec or Barry the Abortion Lover.

When a woman chooses to murder her unborn child and through some miracle it escapes the doctors devices and is born free into the world, Obama has voted to kill it anyway.
yes we all agree that prevention is the preferred method, so even with all the education on birth control and all of the advertisement, why has the rate of abortion not dramatically decreased?
Why won’t science spend the resources to create an artifical womb, that way women who suffer the inconvenience of getting pregnant who want a choice can choose to allow their child to be transferred to an artifical womb and then allow adoptive parents to care for the baby once born.
Artificial wombs destroy the pro-choice arguement, would they still say a woman has the right to murder her child even if this option was available? Would Obama support that, I think not, because he believes that babies are a punishment to women and believes that women should be allowed to treat a pregnancy like it is a disease.
The rule for abortion should be sterilization, in other words we are taking the uterus out with the baby, I think that would make the choice much harder for women and it would drastically reduce the number of abortions but because I believe that I will be called a person of hate and labled a terrorist by DHS.
Yeah, it’s fascinating who they get for a “Catholic in the street” interview.
Kellman get your CINO head out of your gluteus maximus region. It isn't just the speech, though I oppose him even doing that at what is supposedly a Catholic university. It is also:
(1)He is to be awarded an honorary degree, even though the USCCB has spoken out firmly against such a practice.
(2)This most pro-death, most pro-abortion of US Presidents will receive this degree at a school named in honor of our Holy Mother.
(3)To add insult to injury the award will be given on a Sunday, the Christian sabbath.
(4)The protest is less about Obama than it is the reportedly Catholic leadership of ND who are allowing this insult to the Catholic faithful and Catholic moral teaching to occur.
Kellman took Alinsky’s place in chicago, and went to NYC to recruit “O”....and Kellman learned at the feet of Alinsky...and the beat goes on.
No servant can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other.”
Yup, we got your number now...especially with a screen name like yours, Whitey
