Pelosi tries to backpedal on CIA criticism
The Hill ^ | 5/16/09 | Mike Soraghan and Sam Youngman

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has backed down slightly in her fight with the CIA, saying that she really meant only to criticize the Bush administration rather than career officials.

"My criticism of the manner in which the Bush Administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe," Pelosi said in a statement.

Pelosi caused an uproar Thursday when she accused the CIA of lying to her about its use of waterboarding – which she considers torture – on terrorism suspects.

Her comment came after President Obama's CIA director, Leon Panetta, challenged her version of events, insisting that his agency told her the truth in a controversial September 2002 briefing.

Panetta, who served with Pelosi in Congress as a fellow California Democrat, had issued a memo to CIA staff Friday reiterating that agency records show "CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing 'the enhanced techniques that had been employed,'" according to CIA records.

Hey Nanners, The “Blame Bush” game is getting old. You called the CIA liars and that’s it.

I stated above that I believe nan is suffering from a medical problem that has become obvious during the past few months. I agree, those close to her should step in and drag her away from the mike before she is taken away in a straitjacket.

>>Of course she did, but like the idiot she is she failed to remember, they are the same career officials now as they were under president Bush. And it wasn’t president Bush that was giving intelligence briefings it was the CIA career officials she called liars. Pelosi is the liar and has forgotten the rule about stop digging when you find yourself in a hole.

The senior people at the Agency have seen administrations come and go — many go back to carter and Reagan. They are experts at 2 things: self-preservation and retribution.

You’d think so, but, if you remember... Bill Clinton taught the Party of Evil, the Democrats, that “you gotta stick with the lie”. Dissemble, equivocate, lie, lie some more, and then lie again...when all else fails, blame it on your opponents and mainly, above all, stick to the lie and get your friends in the MSM to protect you by not reporting you are a liar....get noted historians to tell everyone a blow job isn’t an impeachable offense (ala Doris Kearns Goodwin), get your MSM assbiters to point out who else lied in history or had affairs, get anyone and everyone looking at other things and then you just keep on lying....in the end, she won’t go anywhere....God forbid if a tragedy struck #1 and #2 - this bitch would be president.

I just checked her age and she is 68 or 69. Not even early-onset demetia. The profile fits. Heck, Reagan had the respect for us to announce that he had alzheimer’s and bowed out gracefully. But don’t count on Pelosi to do that. She is so power-mad she wouldn’t even consider it.

They’re going to need to bounce her out. And with the dim political machine, they will accomplish that easily.

saying that she really meant only to criticize the Bush administration

....so that makes it okay to falsely charge an agency w/ a crime? Too late Nancy, the horse has left the barn.

If this woman has a single sane knuckle on a single toe in her entire body, I'll eat my baseball caps.

She looks, acts, and speaks like a madwoman.

Her popularity is probably 2-3% in the internals, so they're tossing her under the bus, and Steny is kicking her under the wheels.

Yep, she will need to be ripped away from the seat of power. I have never seen a individual that is as obviously power hungry/mad as Nan. She will not go quietly.

If the CIA is so bad, she should just defund it. Let her try that.

I have a waaay-out-there lefty relative. I haven’t spoken to her in a while, but she’s really predictable. I can just hear her, “The G-D- Republicans are making poor Nancy Pelosi’s life hell”.

I can’t bear to call her up any more; she knows all of the buttons to push to goad me- and she’s so far from reality that it’s almost sad.
