Anyone, said T.S. Eliot, could carve a goose, were it not for the bones. And anyone could govern as boldly as their whims decreed, were it not for the skeletal structure that keeps civil society civil

If California had balls, it would tell the president that it will not be sending any of the federal income tax they collect to the feds. Until they relent.
Two can play at this game.
The Obama administration’s conduct is The Chicago Way brought to Washington. The notion that election winners can use the levers of power to reward friends and trash enemies is simply business-as-usual in Chicago. Sadly, this flagrantly corrupt style of government hasn’t induced either the vigilance one would expect from a truly independent press nor has it apparently done much to dent the president’s favorability ratings. A distressingly small fraction of the public is up in arms about the shredding of the rule of law.
If we’re lucky, the wrath Obama will face when the sleeping giant is fully aroused will not dissipate until he is driven from office. If we continue on our current path, I believe that Germany of the 1930’s best illustrates where we could end up.
There's a term for that: "Criminal malfeasance."
Now if he'd only get rid of that ridiculous bowtie.
Elections have consequences.
Gosh, George F. Will, it's too bad you didn't see this coming when you trashed John McCain so often during the 2008 campaign season. McCain had flaws aplenty, but they pale in comparison to what we're faced with now...
BO and his boss, Soros, laugh every morning as they read these wimpy editorials.
Unless 20 million patriots show up in D.C., they will continue to laugh, knowing there is no danger to their take-over of our way of life.
I thought that bore repeating.
dependency has always been the core of the dem system... it’s at the heart of the social program. the dems know if they can get people using any of the social programs, depending on them, they will gain a dem voter for a very long time.
the dems have always had a vested interest in seeing more people get into situations where they will need these programs... and those situations usually mean the people are screwed or desperate.
Every time I see George Will on a byline I cringe. I can’t help but think that he and all his other washington “conservative” pundits are in part to blame for the current situation. They went out of their way to rebuke and ridicule any candidate that the Republicans put forward. Sure, McCain had his flaws, but did the conservative pudits really need to jump on the bandwagon? Weren’t there enough lefty libs around to carry that water? By pointing out Republican vices rather than virtues, the conservative pundits abdicated their role as conservatives and their right to speak into these issues. Nice call, George . . . just way too late.

Have you ever done payroll? When I had a small business I remitted income taxes directly to the IRS, there was no way for the state to hold them back unless you mean payroll withholding for state employees. Is that what you refer to?
Anyone have a link to the video of "our" presidential candidate declaring, to the rightful derision from an audience of his own supporters, that our republic would be safe in Obama's hands?
It makes him look like a fruit.
Man of “lawlessness”...now where have I seen that before?
IIRC, Scotus long ago ruled incorrectly that the feds can put whatever strings they wish on the laundered money they dole out to the states. Yes, this is corruption legalized by the very branch of government designed to stand as a bulwark defending our Constitution.<
Elections have consequences? Yep, they sure do. Hey, it’s not like we didn’t see this coming. To paraphrase former Arizona Cardinals’ coach Dennis Green: “0bama is who we thought he was!!!”
I was going to type that 0bama was the most liberal member of the Senate, but it goes beyond that. He was the most SOCIALIST, if not downright COMMUNIST elected official in the history of the Federal government of the United States. His communist philosophical leanings were never properly aired by a COMMUNIST mainstream media. He now enjoys unparalleled power and freedom to do what he wants. Because his communist philosophies have no room for the Rule of Law, what should we have expected?
This is all going according to his plan and exactly as I thought it would. And it will not end well for the United State or the American people.
Dependency is central to the sociofascist system, but, as you imply, it’s merely the means to an end, i.e., the consolidation of political power and the expansion of control over the population at large. Accompanied, naturally, by perpetual hot-and-cold-running perks for the people at the top.
