'I hope Rush’s kidneys fail'

I honestly hadn’t given too much thought to Wanda Sykes’ rather predictably meanspirited attempts to skewer Rush Limbaugh at the correspondent’s dinner last evening — it being de rigeur these days for the wannabe edgy to take shots at Limbaugh, and to receive at least tacit official sanction for doing so.
And the President’s reaction suggested that she’d done just that. Had I more respect for Obama, I’d have expressed surprise and revulsion. As it stands, however, I was hardly surprised — either by the joke and its venue, or by Obama’s ostensible approval.
– This latest from the White House being only reason I bring this up at all:
[...] today White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, as he well knew, was asked about the reaction of the president, who also spoke at the annual banquet but as another invited guest of the correspondents association.
To protect the president, no doubt no fan of Limbaugh’s, Gibbs said he had not talked to Obama specifically about the “joke.” And the White House had nothing to do with booking such celebrities.
But Gibbs put the White House down firmly on the side of Sykes’ critics, saying some things should be subjects of serious reflection and not comedy and he felt the president would list 9/11 as one of them.
Evidently, Obama’s method of “serious reflection” on subjects that shouldn’t be joked about is to laugh at the jokes made about them, then to declare that such laughter is inappropriate — though, given his reaction, presumably he means inappropriate for others.
Otherwise, the White House would be apologizing for the President’s reaction rather than declaring that what he laughed at shouldn’t be funny to anyone else going forward…

President Obama smiled at the time, but the White House declared Monday there was nothing funny about comic Wanda Sykes joking about 9/11.
As usual the marxist tries to have it both ways.
I know that there are, or were, a lot of Wanda Sykes posts on FR and they all mentioned the swipes at Rush and 9/11, but there were many more insensitive and repulsive “jokes” from Wicked Wanda.

Then, when some in the audience respond with surprise, Wanda responds, “Aw, shut up. You’ll be telling that one tomorrow. Shut up!”
Then she continues the smaking down of governors who are turning down stimulus money — which she did before the Palin comment. She asked, “Who the Hell turns down free money? Maybe Oprah shoulda been giving it out.”
Next gag (7:49):
“Teachers need more money. Pay the teachers more more money. Then, maybe they’d stop sleeping with their students.”
Besides being a dumb joke, it’s totally illogical.
Compliments about Michelle Obama’s dress and her beautiful bare arms (9:03):
“How dare you complain about her bare arms. Sleeves cost money!”
How much was Michelle’s dress? Two grand, wasn’t it???
Then Wanda proceeds to take shots at every other First Lady (9:36):
“Some of the previous First Ladies, they need the sleeves. They need the ponchos. Good grief!”
At 11:00...
“Kudos to you [the First Lady] for unveiling the bust of Sojourner Truth in the White House...but would you please do me a favor and see that it’s nailed down real well because the first white guy dat comes in, he’s gonna move it to the kitchen.”

“Dick Cheney, he;s a scary man...I tell my kids now, if two cars pull up and one has a stranger and the other car has Dick Cheney, ‘You get in the car with the stranger’.”

Memo to Sykes: You don’t need to rob the bank to pay your bills, Wanda. Your buddy Obama has already done that for you.

Didn’t watch that program on purpose. Now, after reading what she had to say I think I need to take a shower. What a vile and disgusting person.
Seems as if she may have gotten the gig at this dinner through an Affirmative Action program!!!
