Obama reverses stance on immigration
Co-opts policy he once mocked
By Stephen Dinan May 8, 2009
On the thorniest of political issues, President Obama has embraced the enforcement-first position on immigration that he criticized during last year's presidential campaign, and he now says he can't move forward with the type of comprehensive bill he wants until voters are convinced that the borders can be enforced.
Having already backed off his pledge to have an immigration bill this year, Mr. Obama boosted his commitment to enforcement in the budget released Thursday.
The spending blueprint calls for extra money to build an employee-verification system and to pay for more personnel and equipment to patrol the border.
This security-first stance is not unlike that of President George W. Bush, Bush Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, who said their immigration bill failed in 2007 because voters didn't trust the government to be serious about enforcement.
"If the American people don't feel like you can secure the borders," Mr. Obama said at his press conference last week, "then it's hard to strike a deal that would get people out of the shadows and on a pathway to citizenship who are already here, because the attitude of the average American is going to be, 'Well, you're just going to have hundreds of thousands of more coming in each year.' "
Republicans say the shift is a sign that Mr. Obama, who during the campaign repeatedly called the issue a priority, is uncertain how to move forward.
"I don't think Barack Obama understands the immigration issue. I don't know that he has spoken about it in any depth during his entire political career," said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, the top Republican on the House Judiciary subcommittee that handles immigration.

Si; ahora es, "no, no podemos!" (No, we can't!)
Si Pendejo-bama!
I now wait breathlessly to hear what Juan McCain thinks of this latest development...
Will he support the Democrats he loves so much, or the illegals (you know, the ones who are God’s Children)?
So many ways to stick it to the Conservatives who reluctantly voted for him, so little time.
Decisions... decisions...
How can you say that? He's kept the drug dealers in business ...
What mind?
Color me skeptical, as in, I don’t believe this for one second.
The Zero and his comrades will figure out a way to give citizenship to all 20 million illegals in this country, one way or another.
Illegals are their key to creating an unbreakable Democrat stranglehold on local, state, and federal government across the country.
he can change his mind again...look for that to happen
Everything Bama does is geared to the next election and I suspect his pollsters are showing him there IS NOT this hue and cry to make legal what is illegal. Congress is another matter... so long as they can take votes advantage with whatever legislation they can ‘secretly’ put together in the dark of night is exactly what they are going to do.... Hey lord McCain how did all the AMNESTY laboring you have done all these years work out for you????
And for you globalists who made $$$$ off your cheap labor, personally I do hope you get a huge increase in your income taxes just to help the rest of US who do NOT hire cheap illegal labors to help US pay for the health care and education costs you have hoisted upon US.
He says one thing, while he does another.
He also is denying financial assistance to states who incarcerate illegal aliens.
Obama is the master of the head-fake. Forget what he says. Watch what he does.
“Is there anything left that he hasnt changed his mind on?”
He promised ‘change’ didn’t he?
But to answer your question seriously, Communism.
He's never changed his mind on anything "left!" I red that one of the projects he wanted to "save" on in his $17 Billion in cuts was additional border fencing. He's such a liar. I'll believe he's decided we need border security when I see some positive action, not a few token additional hirings for the Border Patrol.
No he hasn’t. They are killing each other off along the border due to a lack of business. The Obama Depression is drying up drug income everywhere.
Ping!
It’s Zero.
I trust him about as far as I can throw his Portugese Water Dog (not that I ever would).
He’s finding an under-the-table way to do this.
If there's anything we know about Zero, it's that he doesn't care about money.
At least, not when it is ours and can be spent to drive us deeper into bankruptcy.
His own greatness?
Hummm. Look at what else the ZerØs administration just did an about face on
"The Administrator acknowledges that as for human health, so too for welfare: moderate temperature increases (globull warming!) may have some benefits, particularly for agriculture and forestry over the short term, as summarized above in this section and discussed in more detail in the Technical Support Document in Part IV, sections 9(a) and 10(a).

Ok, that is two of the big four the communists were after, amnesty and cap and trade. They have in the past week started spreading justification to abandon both.
That leaves just two. Gun control in the form of Inter-American Convention against the Illicit Manufacturing and Trafficking in Firearms treaty (CIFTA): or registration laws and the rather nostalgic Hildabeast favorite communist health care.
It really is looking like the communists know they are going to get a butt whipping in the mid-terms over the Ten Trillion Dollar drunken spending junket and will focus on one big issue to get shoved through before they loose the majority.
