Waving signs with anti-tax slogans and carrying American flags, crowds gathered in support of less government spending and lower taxes in numerous cities yesterday. The "tea party" element of the gatherings was meant to reference the Boston Tea Party, a pre-Revolutionary War event in which colonists dumped tea in the Boston Harbor to protest the British king's tax on what was a colonial staple. Many of the flags flown yesterday were historical and reminiscent of the American Revolution.
"Tea Parties" Increase Sales for Flags
One of the flags seen in abundance at these "Tea Parties" is the Gadsden flag, an historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the snake is the legend "DONT TREAD ON ME" [sic]. The flag was designed by and is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden. It was also used by The United States Marine Corps as an early motto flag.
For many the "Tea Parties" are very political, for others the events are purely business -- and really good business. Flag companies and other retailers carrying patriotic items have seen these flags fly off the shelves. According to Kerry McCoy, owner of FlagandBanner.com in Little Rock, Arkansas, "I wish I would have thought of it sooner and bought all the Gadsden Flags on the planet. This week Arkansas' FlagandBanner.com along with every other flag dealer in America has sold out of Gadsden flags and First Navy Jack flags in protest of potential tax increases." McCoy further stated, "If the flag had a snake or cannon on it, we sold out."

I just ordered a new 3X5.
We just mounted a “Betsy Ross” flag at our house. We made an effort to find an American-made flag...most are made by Chinese Communist slaves these days.
All of our flags are U.S. made (U.S., state, First Navy Jack).
I want a Gadsen flag in subdued colors, grey on black or black on grey.
No particular reason.
Been looking for a First Navy Jack in the small waving gif form on the Net—so far all flags but that....???

I wonder if that circle of stars on a blue field makes me a potential terrorist.
Awesome!
PS. BTW, I am not affiliated with the company (or the flag industry, for that matter) mentioned in the story. I just wanted to encourage everyone to fly the Gadsden or First Navy Jack flag in place of the U.S. for the next four years.
Local flag shop can do this for you.
That is awesome! Thanks!!
where did you find them?
thankx
Secession.
And it’s the wrong idea for three reasons:
1. We’re too interconnected as a people for it to be a practical alternative
2. The only people who’d profit from the mess afterwards are property lawyers
3. The same crooked lawyers will take over from the old; there’ll be no improvement since people don’t change
It’s better to stand and fight for what we’ve got.
And this is coming from a Southern-born nationalist.
It just won’t work.
I got mine and then stopped and puchased a 10 ft. piece of 3/4” PVC pipe. Had them cut it in half and purchased a SW coupling and cotter keys and flew the flag at our Tea Party. Pretty impressive, a 4 x 6 flag 10+ ft in the air.
I know.
Just getting the time to get it done is the trick.
*chuckle*

BO and his socialist minions are the cause of booming gun and patriotic flag sales. Who’d a thunk it?
BTW, I wanted to fly my Gadsen Flag at our Freeper Southeast Regional Convention in Orlando, but the Stars and Stripes looked so majestic, I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
