Grove City College student suspended for off-campus participation in online gay porn

To Grove City College, John Gechter was a bright young student majoring in molecular biology.

But to his online audience, he was Vincent DeSalvo, a baby-faced rising star in the gay pornography industry.

Both worlds unexpectedly crashed into each other two weeks ago after his online persona was discovered at GCC.

“A student on campus was browsing inappropriate content online and recognized me on a (pornography) Web site,” said the 22-year-old Philadelphia native. “He copied and pasted some images and sent an e-mail to some friends. GCC is a pretty small school, so the e-mail spread like wildfire.” ... Gechter was charged with three sanctions: sexual misconduct; participating in a public display of pornography; and having been engaged in conduct that is contrary to the mission and values of Grove City College;and likely to bring dishonor to the college and acting in a way inconsistent with college values, according to a letter sent to Gechter from Hardesty.

GCC’s student handbook, the Crimson, outlines the college’s stance on premarital sex under its sexual misconduct policy, Ms. Clingensmith said.

“Premarital sex, heterosexual or homosexual, or any other such conduct that violates historical Christian standards” is subject to disciplinary action, she noted.

Good response by the college. That’s a darn good school. I dated the daughter of a professor there, and he was one of the most fascinating men I have met. Grove City College seemed to be one of the bastions against the decay of society in general.

Sounds like Jeff Sessions will not have a problem with him if nominated to the USSC.

At first I thought the college was engaging in an over-the-top prosecution.

However, now that I see the college’s policy on sex, I take their side.

The homosexual radicals have infiltrated the Catholic Church and subsequently undermined its reputation because (one reason) the Church turned a blind eye to homosexual activity within its ranks.

No institution should allow it to be undermined by leftists like this. I stand by this college.

Grove City is smart enough to refuse Fed money.

Grove City & Hillsdale Colleges are both great teaching institutions! Both use the Constitution of our country as a Foundation.

Let me see if I understand this:

1. The school has a policy, which he was aware of, stating no premarital sex because it is a Christian College.

2. This young man violated said policy, publicly, by starring in gay porn and it was discovered by the students and administration, who were then notified

3. The promised disciplinary action was instituted

Well, this will have predictable results. The ACLU will jump all over it, the policy will be found unconstitutional, he will win millions, and another private school with Christian values will be discriminated against for having a value as part of their policy.

Sir, you could have gotten a job stocking shelves, or gone to a college that shared YOUR views, but you didn’t. You chose to go to a christian college with a pre marital sex (hetero or homo) ban and then engaged in homosexual sex to pay your tuition to the school? Shame on you. Sounds like this was planned for precisely this kind of gay rights issue fight it will become, and seen as a chance to make a large settlement for the one who broke the rules.

I met a fella on a movie set once who asked me if I wanted to see a Gabe Horn movie. I'd never head of any actors named Gabe Horn so I decided to go with him. Now, the title of the movie was Rough'n Ready, I figured it was a Western with cows and horses and such.

It must have been a short budget film 'cause the actors were all wearing chaps ~with no pants~ and riding each other instead of horses. I didn't see hide-nor-hair of any acting ability but I did see plenty of hide and plenty of hair.

Never did figure out which one of them fellas was Gabe Horn either........"

Good for Grove City College! Their high standards are a benefit to every young man and women who attends their school.

And neither take govt funding. This homeschool mom’s dream is for her kids to eventually attend one or the other.

“I absolutely believe the college (has) violated my rights,” Gechter said. “They (suspended) me based on my occupation. I was not doing anything illegal.”

He invokes a familiar refrain here: If it's not illegal, it's not wrong. Evidently he didn't get much from his ethics classes at Grove City.

this smells like a setup to me....gay activists deliberately targeting Grove City because it is independent and Christian.

I’ll be surprised if the ACLU takes this up, actually. Grove City is carefully a fully private institution—and the ACLU failed to browbeat the Boy Scouts into accepting perverted scoutmasters in the federal courts (even though they are under continuing persecution at the state and local level) due to their private institution status.

There is even less of a case here (as Grove City College presumably never uses public property for meetings and camp outs, like the Scouts do), and I suspect the ACLU would realize they would be ultimately wasting their money, for a kid who intentionally broke the rules.

I don’t know about that. Dragging people through the mud because they don’t go along with “pc” bull seems to be a specialty of the ACLU, and they do take cases they know they might lose just to make a national awareness campaign.
If they don’t do it, some other tool of the left will; just look what they are doing to Miss CA, the Prop 8 supporters and many others who are not PC.

So it's the other student's fault because he was viewing inappropriate material. Making the film wasn't inappropriate?

I may need a map to follow his point.

The biggest issue in this case would be if this moonlighter could show that the rules were not being enforced fairly.

For instance, overlooking heterosexual misconduct but punishing this guy. My daughter's former private school had a case that went to the state supreme court when a female employee was discharged when she came up pregnant and was not married or the victim of rape. She tried to claim discrimination but the school had recently fired a male employee when it was discovered he was having an extramarital affair.

So long as the school is consistent on their rules...they should be ok.

Well, it does raise the question as to why the student was looking at that content.

I’d be willing to bet you that the student source of the “leak” if known by Grove City, is under his (her?) own discipline as well.

This stuff is a lot like grafitti—it has to be dealt with quickly and consistently. If not, next year someone will start the campus “beastiality boys club” or something....

Yes, the student who spread it apparently did several things wrong, and should be disciplined.
