Well, we all know that Gretta won't be talking about this one. When it's a happy ending, she doesn't want to show good news.

A little young to be playing Huck Finn & Tom Sawyer, isn’t he? :)
So glad to hear that all turned out well, and that this little guy is safe! Can’t imagine what the family went through...
God bless those who searched as well!

Too independent. He could do one of those outdoors survival shows though....

I’ve tought my heir apparent how to drive since he was 11, starting in parking lots..
Two years ago, when he was 13, he arranged to find himself driving 70 mph for about twenty minutes on a Wyoming Freeway one Sunday afternoon....

As the mother of an escape/artist 2 yr. old, my first reaction to reading this story was there by the grace of God go I! Get him a good dog. Lord knows, he won't stop him from wandering, but he'll take care of him while they're gone.

I assume that people were probably coming out in droves to apply to adopt them.

I didn't see a mention about using Bloodhounds, just dogs. As a Bloodhound owner I can guarantee you that a trained Bloodhound could track in the rain after only a day or two. A lot of Bloodhound tracking stories might be over rated but a trained man tracker wouldn't have taken two days to find the boy. The story doesn't mention what kind of search dogs they used, not that I could find anyway.
This is great news about the little boy! I hope the strays were rescued too.
Here is my big boy. He turned 12 months old in March and is already well over 100lbs. He was 94lbs when he was 9 months old. I haven't had him trained for search and rescue but he has a nose you wouldn't believe. If he figures out how to open the fridge I'm in big trouble! These pictures were taken when I refitted his harness. I have to let it out every month.

Love the pictures of your bloodhound. Our Sally dog looked just like that. She got a little porky fat in middle age from lack of exercise. She weighed 120 pounds at her fattest. She hated to ride in the car so the vet made house calls. I couldn't get her in the car without lots of help lifting.

That is a lotta dog — What’s his nane? And are you going to train him for S/R?
To: SoftballMominVA; Ditter
His name is Copper. I would love to train him but working full time and taking care of the farm is very time consuming. Also, at a year old he's fast approaching his limit for training. I think he's still trainable for search and rescue but it might take more time and time is short around here. I also have several other dogs to take care of. I have five dogs and three were strays that I took in.
I took this picture in March when he turned a year old. It will give you more of an idea about how big he is. He's such a lover! He's giving me Bloodhound slobbery kisses. LOL I'm about 145lbs if that puts it into perspective.

You are getting slobbered on in that picture. I remember.

Handsome guy! And very lucky! In our house, we don’t give slobbery doggy kisses, so my lab has to find other people to kiss!
To: SoftballMominVA
We don’t allow face kissing here either and he knows not to do it but I wasn’t taking any chances. :-) I kept my face turned just in case and it just looked like he was trying to kiss. He will sniff but not kiss. My husband wanted him to attempt to get in the chair with me to see how big he was compared to me. He also knows not to jump on me so it took some coaxing to get him up there. If you look closely you can see that he is not really kissing me, he’s just sniffing. He’s really very well trained.
