House Republicans demanded Wednesday that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano detail how the controversial "right-wing extremism" report was compiled, using a rare legislative maneuver that ensures that the Democrats must take a public stand - one way or another.
The request asks Ms. Napolitano to release information on how the report was compiled. The report sparked a furor from conservatives included in the definition of "right-wing extremism" and prompted Ms. Napolitano to apologize to the nation's veterans.
"The report that came out of DHS was offensive, and unfortunately, Secretary Napolitano still has a lot of explaining to do," said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. "She has not explained how this report came about, why she signed off on it, or why she defended it."
Rep. Bennie Thompson, Mississippi Democrat and House Homeland Security Committee chairman, has expressed concerns about the report, but has not agreed to Republican demands for a committee hearing.
"As you know, I sent a letter to Secretary Napolitano on April 17, 2009, expressing my concern about the report and requesting an explanation of the department's process in producing and disseminating it," Mr. Thompson said to Rep. Peter T. King of New York, the panel's ranking Republican, in an April 21 letter.

They got the mandate and the money and then subcontracted the job to a consortium of well respected non-partisan organizations. Among them are the Open Society Institute, Southern Poverty Law Center, Code Pink, the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense, MoveOn.org, The World Can’t Wait, the Revolutionary Communist Party (Maoist) and the Socialist Workers Party.
Perhaps the GOP should use this on every single issue that comes up. At best it will slow down the road to full blown socialism.
This is one way to get things done. The Repubs need to forget Rebranding and get back to core beliefs and principles.
The GOP don’t need to wait for a panel investigation when they can start an investigation on their own. The Rats did it for many years and while they never prosecuted the accused for “their” findings they always got in front of the cameras with “their” findings and the GOP can do the same.

No they can’t. The media is completely owned by the democrats and the left and the GOP can’t get past the propagandists. This is as bad a situation as the USSR.
They are doing it the best way in that the dems have to own their policies.

The warning about liberal activists cited specific names and dates and events, as evidence for concern.
The warning about conservatives of different stripes, cited no such specifics!
Never lose hope and never stop fighting for what is right. You can say “Oh Pooh; what’s the use?” or get backbone and show these communist bastards our American way of valuing the individual along with the group, neither over the other, saves the whole.
Our way requires more labor, self-sacrifice and broad mindedness than the simplistic rewards of fascism and communism. Our way preserves the individual and rewards them for their efforts as opposed to exterminating them for being different. Their way rewards the least deserving (evil) while wiping out the creative.
Why do the mass media not figure this out?
Only problem is, the rats own most of the cameras.
