So guys who belive in 3.5B Year old earth, and 80 M/yr dinos - you now have no choice but to close your eyes and swallow the Assertion that unfrozen protein can hang around for 80 Million years, or the dating MAY be wrong after all......
What's your poison, Maybe the 80 Million years is wrong, or DNA analysis is total junk science.
Personally, I believe DNA is good, hard science, and Paleo dating is a junk science.
Get the popcorn ready - the battle of the Ph.D's is about to begin!
My money is on the organic chemists (DNA guys)
Protein != DNA.
I don’t understand why this challenges dating technology?
in case you didn’t read the article, the SEQUENCED the DNA
Frankly, I think organic material can last only a relatively short period of time (10,000 years at best). So how does that DNA compare to the GEICO lizard?
Jurassic park here we come!
oh I thought this was going to talk about cloning the T-Rex
T-Rex...tastes like chicken.
I just want to know how long before we can clone some up. Bet they taste like chicken ;-)

real simple.
Say I just found an Ice cream cone setting on my counter.
It had melted a little bit, but wasn’t
1) a puddle
2) a mass of scum after weeks of decay
3) a mere stain after the scum dried up
4) the minearlized remains of what was at one time, a stain.
Its not reasonable to assume the ice cream cone has been there for years.....so if somebody claims the ice cream has been on the counter for years, clearly known processes at work point to minutes instead of years....
Think of the size of the new buckets!! Yikes!!!
Stange -— looks EXACTLY like a Fly, in EXACTLY like Amber.
So how DID you date the Fly?
And PS, the multiple dino protein finds were NOT in amber, just plain old room temperture rock/sediments.
LOL!!!!!
I gathered that. Protein is a polymer of (different) amino acids. Which are a lot more labile (reactive) than the polymers of deoxy-nucleotides, DNA. DNA is almost bulletproof, the deoxygenation of the nucleotides (the D in DNA) makes them very unreactive, compared with RNA in which the nucleotides still have those certain oxygens. (Both DNA and RNA have other oxygens.) If the message written in RNA is like a message on paper, the message written in DNA is written in stone - or maybe titanium carbide.
They call them evolosers for a reason...
Not that conventional science could ever be wrong, in fact they were pranked by something as simple as a few pig bones cooked in a beaker - FOR OVER 40 YEARS.
